Moving Day With OLTL - January LaVoy Interview

We Love Soaps had the opportunity to visit the new ONE LIFE TO LIFE set in Manhattan on February 16th and tour the new digs.  During this time we spoke with several cast members about their current experience on the show, the big move, and reflections on their time in Llanview.  Please enjoy this series of interviews.

JANUARY LAVOY ("Noelle Ortiz")

We Love Soaps: I so much love the part of Noelle, how she brings levity to her scenes.
January LaVoy: We had so much fun.  We’ve been really fortunate to be involved in a lot of great stories with Erika Slezak and Robin Strasser.

We Love Soaps: I think a lot of fans have beloved memories of Viki in the Bon Jour Diner.  It was very much like “Alice.”
January LaVoy: There was actually an “Alice” joke in the very beginning.  The name of Viki’s uniform was “Alice.”  She asked, “Who’s Alice?” And I said, “Oh she got fired last week.”  We did our homage.

We Love Soaps: That would have made you like the Vera?
January LaVoy: Yes, exactly.

We Love Soaps: Are we going to get to see more of Noelle in Llanview?
January LaVoy: I hope so.  I’ve going to be in town now, I just booked my first Broadway show.  It’s called “Enron,” which is coming over from the West End in London.  It’s been running over there for the past six months.  It got nominated for a boatload of awards, and they decided to do an American version on the strength of the London production.

We Love Soaps: Tell us about “Enron.”
January LaVoy: It really is about the company, the scandal, there is a Kenneth Lay character, a Jeffrey Skilling character, and then all the rest of us play a bunch of different characters in that world.  It’s really an amazing and exciting production.  It’s multimedia with music, video, and movement.

We Love Soaps: When will it start?
January LaVoy: Previews start April 8th.

We Love Soaps: What are you most looking forward to about playing these roles in “Enron”?
January LaVoy: I think what’s most fun is that if you look at the pictures of the London cast there are some dinosaur like creatures that we all have a chance to play.  That’s all I can say about that.
