Just when I’m ready to record the time of death for 90210, it goes and has an incredible episode! Last night was one of those episodes that restores your faith in a series and reminds you how good it can be. So what Annie (Shenae Grimes) is a hooker and Dixon (Tristan Wilds) is a druggie? Ignore those TV Drama clichés. In fact, ignore the Wilson Weenies altogether, because the rest of the show is on fire!Still obsessing over outdoing her new nemesis Holly (Megalyn Echikunwoke), Naomi (AnnaLynne McCord) wants to win the Greek Games to become the Head of Greek Life at CU. Inorder to win the Greek Games, Naomi must align with her other new nemesis, Austin (Justin Deeley), who, next to Holly, is apparently the lesser of two evils. Austin’s frat won the Games a few years back, so Naomi swallows her pride and approaches him for advice. Their sexual tension is palpable, and they cut through that tension pretty quickly when they go at it like a couple of wild animals, or domesticated farm animals as the case may begiven Austin’s background as a farmer of Beverly Hills.
Meanwhile, over in vice, Navid's Shady Uncle (Anthony Azizi) wants to give Navid (Michael Steger) stolen car money. Shady Uncle says: "I may be in a dishonorable business, but I am an honorable businessman." Okay, well anyway, Navid gives Dixon some studio time and Dixon goes off to score some addies or whatever ADHD meds to focus properly for it.
Liam (Matt Lanter) and Jane (Kristina Agpar) are looking for apartments. How quaint that she’s already forgotten all about her dead hubby… well at least until she needs to collect the money from Dead Hubby Jim's life insurance to afford an apartment with Liam. I am just waiting for Zombie Jim to show up on the scene and eat their brains for shacking up so soon after his demise.
Naomi signs Ivy (Gillian Zinser) up for a ceramics class at CU so that Ivy will be a student and can therefore join Naomi’s sorority and surf for them in the Games. Austin tells Naomi’s sorority he'll find the Kappa's Achilles heal for them.
My first, second, and third impressions of Austin were: “God this is a stupid2-dimensional character!” But the actor is hot and he and Naomi do have smoking hot chemistry (Who doesn’t have smoking hot chemistry with Ms.McCord? I clearly have a major crush on her!). When Holly catches Naomi and Austin making out, she tells Austin that they are over. Naomi realizes Austin was only hooking it with her to piss off Holly who is an old fling of his!
Some creep corners Adrianna (Jessica Lowndes) to ask about Liam... Immediately, I'm thinking this is Zombie Jim who I’ve been expecting. If not him, then it’s his vengeful brother. Aid sees him later when he's lurking around the bar after night. She hides behind the bar and ends up falling asleep and spending the night there. Liam is upset that it seems that Adrianna is being stalked,but of course neither of these two pea brains realizes the stalker is after Liam not her!
Silver (Jessica Stroup) directs a commercial for Liam's bar,the Offshore. Liam has to be in the commercial and he cannot act to save his life. Later, he has a mini-meltdown when the cops don't take thestalker aka Zombie Jim seriously. Luckily, Jane returns with Zombie Jim’s life insurance money just in time to comfort Liam.
Oblivious to Dixon’s sudden interest in ADHD meds, Annie tells her brother "mom and dad have their own money problems we're adults now we have to find our own solutions." Ummm… there is so much wrong with that. So they are18 or 19 but they are not adults. They are essentially orphans who were abandoned by the two sweetest, most loving and caring parents ontelevision since… well since Jim and Cindy Walsh on the original BEVERLY HILLS, 90210. And now Debbie is in Paris with Ryan and Harry is two counties over with some young chippie half his age. These loving parents would never leave their kids high and dry like this, but I know I’m supposed to ignore all that so I’m moving on. (God forbid I ask where Jessica Walter is as Granny Wilson!)
We get to see RAJ (Manish Dayal)! My favorite 90 character! God I love him! God his illness is going to tear my heart out when they start playing it on the front burner, if they ever do. (Okay, you caught me, Naomi’s my favorite 90 character, but after her is Raj).
Naomi is bitter towards Austin, but he doesn't realize he did anything wrong. The way he sees it, he knocked Holly off of her game, so he thinks she should be happy. Nay and Holly go head to head as gladiators in bikinis on a beam over a pool of green goo. Believe me, I know how terrible this sounds,but this is when it got AMAZING! Holly knocks Naomi into the goo, by pointing out that MAX is in the crowd! SHUT THE FRONT DOOR! I didn’t know Max (Josh Zuckerman) was coming back! I am soexcited that I didn’t see this in any previews or spoilers, because it was such a terrific surprise! I loved Namax last year but, 90210, you just thrust Austomi on me tonight and I was actually digging that too and now you bring Max back? WTF? Where is my allegiance now?? I don’t even know. But I was giddy with delight at there union!
Apparently, Holly told Max that she was Naomi's friend and Naomi was ready to see her. Max reveals he's at Cal Tech not MIT! He wanted to be closer to Naomi, but she wouldn't return his correspondence. OMG! I love these two and I thought they were over and done with. Max puts it all in perspective for Naomi, telling her "playing with some sorority girl is beneath you." He’s right. They share a passionate kiss!! He asks her if she's met anyone else, she says no. Oh lord this will come back to haunt you Naomi Clark, but I'll enjoy it till it does. 90, you are making me happy!
Ivy wins the surf competition for Nay's sorority. Then she meets Nick, a hottie photography grad student. No sooner can she casually mention that she’s married does she find her husband Raj passed out on the beach. He was ok though, don’t worry. And now both Ivy and Naomi have two hot hot hotties as potential suitors?!? Lucky beotches!
Raj is mad that Ivy worries too much about him and makes a scene over his cancer. Raj is sick of being sick (and I’m guessing eventually he's gonna push his young bride right into Photography Grad Student Nick's arms). Right now, Ivy is just thrilled that Raj has the energy to pick a fight with him.
Annie is able to sabotage the Kappas last minute at the cost of her Kappa scholarship, so, yeah, now Annie's resigned herself to becoming a prostitute. But what’s more important is that Naomi is the new head ofthe Greek Council! I love it when things go my girl’s way! Max is there to give her a victory kiss, while Austin spies on. Later,Austin makes it clear to Naomi that he still wants her. She tells him that Max is the love of her life! He tells her, "Max might see the good in you but I see the bad and I like it." As much as I love Max, Austin’s got skills!! They make out,but Naomi pulls away and composes herself enough to walk away from him.
And I WAS RIGHT! (Okay, it wasn’t that hard to predict,especially when you are a soap aficionado as I am). Aid sees a picture of Jane, Liam and Zombie Jim... just as the stalker aka Zombie Jim walks in the door! Adrianna: "You're dead." Zombie Jim: "Don't tell." Clearly Zombie Jim is about as dead as 90210… NOT EVEN A LITTLE BIT!!!
I just clicked here b/c I wanted to tell you how much I hate your reviews. One, you weekly bash the Wilson characters of Dixon and Annie, and the fans clearly love them, but your blog is the worst when it talks about them. The fact that Tristan Wilds is the best actor out of all the guys and is doing a good storyline that has fan's attention but ofcourse yours is the big opinion and you rather besmirch it. The fact Shenae Grimes is doing just as big of a story, it isn't your everyday story but it's better than dead hubby back from the dead or Naomi acting like a whore w/ no principles to an annoying fan hated character in Austin, or Silver doing absolutely nothing, or Adrianna coming off ridiculously annoying in this part of her storyline. WeloveSoaps huh.. keep trying, just like soaps your missing your own boat of respectability.
