Sunday Night Cable Ratings: DIRTY SOAP Not In Top 100 A25-54 Again

In the Sunday night cable (Live+Same Day) ratings, BOARDWALK EMPIRE was watched by 2.6 million viewers and had a 1.1 Adults 18-49 rating. BREAKING BAD had a 0.8 A18-49 rating with 1.73 million viewers. DIRTY SOAP didn't appear in the Top 100 cable shows for Adults 25-54 according to TVByTheNumbers.com.

The DIRTY lead out, KENDRA, continued to perform well in the ratings with a 0.8 demo and 1.3 million viewers.

Last's week's DIRTY SOAP was watched by 0.834 million viewers (Ranked #23) and had a 0.4 Adults 18-49 rating (the same demo HOMELAND debuted to this week on Showtime).

Why is DIRTY SOAP not catching on with more fans? Or at least Nielsen homes. The majority of our readers seem to enjoy the show.

  1. Same reason ratings are down for soap operas. So your readers enjoy the show same as many viewers of soaps still enjoy the shows. No matter what its not that entertaining when you compare it to shows like Jersey Shore or Housewives or the Kardashians. And like it or not none of these people on the show have any mainstream popularity. I watch and enjoy it but its a show for a niche audience. Did people believe this was going to become some mainstream hit show.

  2. To Anonymous, most of the hit reality shows feature people no one knew before they came on so they were less known than these daytime stars. I don't get your point.

  3. Not true. MOst had made a name for themselves in outrageous stuff outside of soaps. The Kardashians did not just become a success out of the blue. Kim was known because of her sex tape with Ray J. Just because a few thousand people on twitter buzz about this show doesn't make Kelly MOnaco at the same level of mainstream knowledge as Kim K was and is. I dont know why soap fans of which I am one can't see this. Perhaps had they signed on someone like Susan Lucci especially with all the PR she's been getting it might have helped but no one on this show has done anything interesting that general public would know about. Kelly's DWTS win was 7 years ago.

  4. Kelly Monaco won Dancing With The Stars with 20 million people watching. Kardashians? Ha.

  5. Yeah and I could not tell you who won DWTS last year or the year before. Who knows Kelly Monaco? Tell me who? I am not going to argue. THe ratings and viewership tells the story not me.

  6. I'm not the same 'Anon' who has posted twice. But, sounds like the same type of person who posts at TV BY THE NUMBERS, poo-pooing over anything soap related.

As far as the 'ratings' are concerned? I have NO faith in the A.C. Nielsen Co. Look at the corruption in corporations. Are we expected to believe that the reports A.C. Nielsen releases are truthful? I'm sorry I don't believe in Santa Clause or the Easter Bunny either.

  7. I do not watch either of these shows. I occasionally view talk shows and the only memorable personality and voice intonation is Snooky.

  8. My comment above about my not viewing either of these shows, well, I am a different Anonymous altogether. Anyway, I agree with the one who talked about soaps being for a smaller type audience. Not everyone is into that genre.
