The CW still has remake fever.
The network that dusted off 90210 and MELROSE PLACE for primetime is combing through other old titles, CW Entertainment prexy Dawn Ostroff said Tuesday.
Speaking to reporters during the Dub net’s portion of the TV Critics Assn. press tour, Ostroff said she’s interested in perhaps reviving another dormant femme-centric series next year.
“There are other shows we’re looking at, but we can’t talk about it yet,” she said.
Remakes bring a “built-in brand equity,” Ostroff said, citing the number of revived franchises hitting the feature world as well.
Ostroff also said a 90210/MELROSE PLACE cross-over could be in the cards once “Melrose” gets established.
As for the GOSSIP GIRL spinoff, which was close to making it on the schedule in spring, Ostroff said the drama is now officially dead.
It would be nice if The CW got into remaking a classic daytime soap.
Which classic shows would you like to see brought back?
I see where you're going with the classic daytime show. But instead of remaking, just bring it back! <3 GL
ReplyDeleteWhat older, canceled daytime soaps are part of popular culture like 90210 or Melrose Place? Both shows not only had primetime success but have aired in re-runs since their cancellation.
ReplyDeleteI definitely think someday, years from now, GH will become a movie or have a remake because of the Luke and Laura pop culture sensation.
ReplyDeleteI have the same feeling Roger it will be several years after GH is canceled maybe 7-10 it depends on if the CW is around lol. How bought a remake of Pacific Palisades...what was I the only one that watched it...come on it had Finola Hughes and Michelle Stafford...crickets?
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, the CW is probably thinking more of 'revisiting' something like Dawson's Creek rather than Guiding Light.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see CW remake "Models Inc.," which to me was a great soap that didn't get enough time to shine. but that's probrally a bit too much like their new show "A Beautiful Life". What about a new version of "My So-Called Life".
