Gay Kiss Boosts EASTENDERS's Ratings
A kiss between two male characters helped the British soap opera EastEnders bubble to the top of its slot on Friday evening, drawing an estimated 7.9 million viewers on BBC 1.

The controversial kiss is part of a new story line for the long-running soap in which Syed Masood, a Muslim played by Marc Elliot, struggles with his sexuality and faith. During Friday’s episode, Masood kissed openly gay character Christian Clarke, played by John Partridge.

INTERVIEW: DAYS' Arianne Zucker (Nicole) and Eric Martsolf (Brady)
Zucker: "Eleven years of doing things that are very irrational. You have to find ways to love your character. If you don’t, then it shows."

Martsolf: "Since I’ve come on as Brady it was clear that through his rehabilitation, which has all been unseen, that somehow truth became really important to him. In order to be rehabilitated that way you have to be really honest. Being in this place made him want to help his friend, which through the weeks, developed into real feelings for this girl. I think the fans thought it kind of came out of the blue, but if you look at the circumstances and what he went through mentally, the connection to her makes sense. She wants that perfect picture. Brady wanted to tell her it ain’t that perfect. Take another look at it."

Wadkins is slated to appear on DAYS OF OUR LIVES on August 3 and 4, after her character's husband, Carlo, turns up dead. She'll share scenes with Jay Kenneth Johnson's Philip.
