#GH50 Trending During East Coast Broadcast Of GENERAL HOSPITAL; Twitter Domination Continues

#GH50 trended on Twitter on Monday

The hashtag #GH50 was trending during Monday's GENERAL HOSPITAL, and after. The episode was originally scheduled for March 29, but a March pre-emptioned shifted the episodes back a day. So while today is the actual 50th anniversary of GH, Tuesday's show will be the one show as the shot to be the "anniversary episode."  Hashtag.org estimated there were 9,800 tweets per hour during Monday's peak for #GH50.

The #GH50 hashtag performed strongly all weekend long during the 50-hour SOAPnet marathon of classic episodes. The gap is greater today than usual but #GH50 (or #GH) is solidly leading the pack on Twitter. This may explain why the 50-year old soap has grown more than any other daytime program among young viewers in the past year.

For perspective, #TheWalkingDead peak on Sunday night was estimated to be 193,400 tweets per hour.

We will keep monitoring the Twitter trends as the west coast broadcasts air and update the data if the peak numbers for Monday change.
