Australian soap NEIGHBOURS celebrates 6,000 episodes
Australian television has begun a week of celebrations to mark the 6,000th episode of NEIGHBOURS. The popular soap opera is watched in more than 60 countries, and has been running for 25 years. The show's producers are planning a series of blockbuster storylines, including a fairytale wedding and the plotting of an attempted murder.

Actress Gabriela Spanic's assistant allegedly poisoned the actress's food with ammonium sulphate. Prosecutors said Marcia Fernandez, an Argentinian citizen, was putting the chemical in Spanic's food for at least four months.

Jimmy Fallon seeks intro tweets for Emmy Awards
Fallon, who's hosting the ceremony on NBC, said the public will be able to submit an introduction through Twitter for up to 15 Emmy presenters, or about half the celebrities who will be handing out trophies.

Tivo Will Track Online Viewing on TV Sets
In addition to providing subscribers with the ability to watch traditional TV, and stream content from Netflix, YouTube, and other services, TiVo operates an audience measurement service that compiles data, reports on consumer viewing behavior, and provides the information to TV Networks and advertisers. The company will combine these two elements and will begin to track how much time consumers spend watching web content through their TV sets.

TiVo Releases QWERTY Slide Remote
TiVo this week released the Slide, a TiVo Premiere and TiVo HD/Series 3-compatible remote that slides up, messaging phone-style, to reveal a full QWERTY keyboard and numeric keypad. The peanut-shaped remote helps users search for TV, Web video, and RSS content.

Viviscal Expands US Distribution, Names Finola Hughes as Spokesperson
Furthering its emigration from the pristine seas of Finland to the shores of America, Viviscal has expanded its U.S. distribution to 4,900 Rite Aid stores, it was announced by Lifes2good, Inc. The company also named Emmy Award-winning actress Finola Hughes as a brand spokesperson.
