ALL MY CHILDREN Heads to ICU with Hummingbird Synergy

InnerSpace Inc. demonstrated its signature product Hummingbird Synergy on ALL MY CHILDREN this week when Ryan Lavery (Cameron Mathison) suffered a brain aneurysm after a fall. Ryan was treated with the Hummingbird Synergy multimodal catheter which helps to monitor and relieve brain swelling as he recovered in intensive care. Cameron Mathison quipped, “Hummingbird saved Ryan's life."

"Having millions of viewers see the Hummingbird Synergy in action on this timeless soap opera offered an incredible opportunity to raise awareness of traumatic brain injuries (TBI) and provide the viewing public a unique glimpse into the world of brain trauma management,” said Ben Bobo, vice president, InnerSpace, Inc. He added that the catheter was featured over two days of filming.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, more than 1.7 million people sustain a TBI annually. For severe TBIs, the Hummingbird Synergy is the only device to integrate the functions of intracranial pressure (ICP), ventricular drainage with access for a diagnostic probe through a single burr hole. Before Hummingbird Synergy, multiple holes were made in the skull to pass probes and a ventricular catheter. Now, only one access hole is required.

The Hummingbird line offers a state-of-the-art ICP sensor, AirPulse?, which measures pressure through an air column. AirPulse ICP eliminates the need for costly capital equipment between the patient and the patient monitor, does not require leveling and can be re-zeroed while the sensor is in the brain.

Founded in 1991, InnerSpace is a privately held company working to develop new and more effective products to treat brain injuries. For more information, call 714-259-7900 x 4 or visit innerspacemedical.com.
