NEWS: Rodgers, Valentini, EASTENDERS Wins 10 BSAs

OLTL's Valentini to name character after woman he met on vacation
Virginia Burdett said she and her husband were recently vacationing in Costa Rica, staying at the Four Seasons hotel there. They went on an excursion to a national park with four other people from the hotel. One of those people turned out to be ONE LIFE TO LIVE executive producer Frank Valentini.

"He asked me to write my name down. He said, "I think I'll name a judge after you," Burdett said.

She received an e-mail from him on Monday, saying he was working on introducing a character named Virginia Burdette into the plot of the ABC show. Although he was leaning toward naming a judge after her, he warned that the character may be a mass murderer instead.

Teddy Toye part of OLTL dance troupe
Proud papa Eddie reports that Teddy Toye will appear on ABC's soap opera ONE LIFE TO LIVE on May 14, 17 and 18. He's in the dance troupe that's part of the "Starr-Crossed Lovers: The Musical" segment on OLTL. Teddy's also scheduled to sing and dance on the Friday edition of THE VIEW, also on ABC, a preview of the OLTL show.

FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS ratings modest in fourth season debut on NBC
The show's debut Friday drew 3.9 million viewers and a 1.2 preliminary rating among adults 18-49, landing the acclaimed small town drama in third place at 8 p.m. FNL was also down 25% from its third season opener in January of 2009. FNL led into a two-hour DATELINE (5.3 million, 1.3).

Rodgers, who was highly visible wearing a fedora and suit at the Kentucky Derby on May 1, is weighing an offer to make a cameo on THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS.

EASTENDERS sweeps the board at British Soap Awards 2010
EASTENDERS crushed its rival Coronation Street at last night’s British Soap Awards with a haul of ten awards, including Best Soap.

Departing star Lacey Turner (Stacey Branning) and Scott Maslen (Jack Branning) both scooped a double. Lacey won Best Actress and Best Dramatic Performance while Scott landed Sexiest Male and Best Actor.

EASTENDERS also picked up gongs for Villain Of The Year for actor Larry Lamb (Archie Mitchell), Best Newcomer for Marc Elliot (Syed Masood), Best Storyline for Who Killed Archie Mitchell? and Best Exit for Charlie Clements (Bradley Branning).

The 25th anniversary live episode in January won the Best Single ­Episode prize.

CORRIE had three wins – Sexiest Female for Michelle Keegan (Tina McIntyre), Best Comedy Performance for Craig Gazey (Graeme ­Proctor) and a Lifetime Achievement Award for Betty Driver (Betty Williams).

DOCTORS won two prizes and Hollyoaks and Emmerdale got one each.
