The British Academy Television Awards were held in London's Royal Festival Hall on Sunday night celebrating the very best in TV.
There was a surprise in the soap category, with EMMERDALE and EASTENDERS losing out to THE BILL, which ITV is cutting from two episodes a week to one.
Channel 4, the subject of a government review of its future, was the best-performing channel, taking eight awards. ITV1 fared second best, with five, with BBC One and BBC Two taking four and three respectively.
