News Brief

INTERVIEW: GENERAL HOSPITAL's Bradford Anderson
Anderson (Spinelli) appeared on "Stardish Radio" last night.

Loving every role, as Mom (Jeanne Cooper) advised
One particular piece of paternal advice that Corbin Bernsen (John Durant, GH; ex-Ken, RYAN'S HOPE) has internalized came when he was a teen.

"My mom was a raging alcoholic during her early years at THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS. My parents were breaking up and it was ugly and messy," he says. "I was a typical kid, getting high and acting crazy. And I said, 'Well, Mom is this' and 'I do this because of that' and 'What do you expect?'

"My dad said, 'You have a choice in life. You can be happy or you can be sad. But don't blame anybody else other than yourself. If your life is going to be screwed up, don't blame me or your mom.' "

The acting bug he caught from his mother.

"I remember going with her to Paramount for episodes of BONANZA," he says. "The whole thing of walking from a hot Los Angeles day onto an air-conditioned soundstage and the smell of all the fake greenery they'd bring in to make the place into the Ponderosa - to me, that smell is still heaven."

What really inspired him was seeing his mother in a stage production of 'The Miracle Worker' in La Jolla. "I thought, 'Wow, that's my mother up there, the crazy woman who makes my dinner. Look at what she's doing!' " he recalls.

A few years later, when Bernsen decided to pursue acting, transferring from San Diego State to UCLA to study theater, he went to his mother to seek her blessing.

Her response may well have led to Bernsen's singularly eclectic acting resume.

"She said, 'I don't mind you following what I'm doing,'" Bernsen says. "'You've seen the ups and downs. The only thing I demand of you is that you love and respect your craft. It doesn't matter if you're doing a commercial or a movie, just love it. Love all of it.'"

In the crazy-quilt career of Corbin Bernsen, there's been a lot to love.

Girls Aloud on Bebo soap opera
Girls Aloud will star in a teenage soap set in the music business - it's been reported. The drama series, THE SECRET WORLD OF SAM KING, will be shown exclusively to users of teen social networking site Bebo, and will be set inside their music label, Universal Records. A friend of the band tells the Daily Star: "They're all really excited - it promises to be a lot of fun."

BLOG UPDATE: Cady McClain
"Due to personal reasons, a key member of my band is no longer going to be able to play with me. This means I have to cancel a couple of my gigs, as it is too late to find an adequate replacement. Prohibition and Alphabet Lounge are out for sure. I am going to try to play Rockwood Music Hall so please hang on to that date… August 15th, 6pm… if you were planning on coming.

Other bad news is that I had to put my dog, Toby, down. He was very old and pretty much senile. He was so sweet, so kind. I am lucky to have had him for as long as I did. A beautiful spirit."

INTERVIEW: GENERAL HOSPITAL's Finola Hughes
Hughes (Anna Devane) appeared on "Buzzworthy Radio" last night.

Josh and Reva Double Take

It's a case of deja vu all over again for GUIDING LIGHT's Josh (Robert Newman) and Reva (Kim Zimmer) as they watch actors Mark and Jolene film the Lewis' iconic Cross Creek wedding.

Will hearing their vows and listening to their song once again remind Josh and Reva of a love that was promised to last always?

HOLLYOAKS Roxy’s in sexy spin
Foxy Roxy McKee is all set to battle it out to secure her title as soap's sexiest female. But even the most stylish girls have to improvise sometimes. The HOLLYOAKS star, who is nominated in this year's Inside Soap Awards, turned up to the launch party fashionably late. But Roxanne told Insider it wasn't because she'd spent hours getting ready.

"I had to get dressed in the toilets at Manchester airport!” she revealed. "I've been in Spain and I literally landed at London and flew into Manchester in time for the launch."

WHERE ARE THEY NOW: GL's Laura Bell Bundy
Growing up 500 miles from Manhattan, local kids might not feel a link with Broadway. Now they can. Laura Bell Bundy, the "Legally Blonde" star, will give a class next month at the Wharton Center. Joining her will be Paul Canaan, one of her co-stars.

Cherry Pie Picache plays villain in IISA PA LAMANG
Actress Cherry Pie Picache’s role as Isadora in the soap opera IISA PA LAMANG can be considered as her most challenging role on television- she plays the woman the audience loves to hate. Known to portray "good girl" roles, viewers will see her in a different light as the main antagonist in the newest teleserye of ABS-CBN in the Phillipines.

Picache was first seen as a villain in PANGARAP NA BITUIN, but her character is even more hateful in IISA PA LAMANG. Isadora is a colorful character in IISA PA LAMANG, with the evil way she treats central characters Catherine (Claudine Barretto) and Aura (Susan Roces). She also shows wickedness to the other characters.
