Director David Pressman Dead At Age 97: Legacies Include ONE LIFE TO LIVE, ANOTHER WORLD; View ACTOR'S STUDIO Interview

Award-winning director David Pressman has died, according to Variety. He was 97.

Pressman worked primarily in television, including helming episodes of Actor's Studio. He worked on the daytime soap operas ANOTHER WORLD (1967-1970) and ONE LIFE TO LIVE, winning three Emmy Awards for his work on OLTL where he stayed for 25 years.

Pressman directed Erika's Slezak's OLTL audition about which she said, "He had to fill me in on the storyline. You should have heard him trying to explain Niki/Viki to me!"

Pressman's theater career began as a performer, studying with Sanford Meisner, and later teaching at Meisner's Neighborhood Playhouse. As an actor, he appeared on Broadway in "Brooklyn, U.S.A.," "The Eye of St. Mark," and "Dream Girl."

His directorial credits on Broadway include "Roman Candle" and "The Disenchanted."

After retiring from directing, he returned to acting, which was his first love, and played the role of Bernie Hopper on ONE LIFE TO LIVE in his late 80s.

Pressman is survived by a wife, three sons, five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
