ABC confirms General Hospital will be changing timeslots in several markets, back to 3 p.m. ET/2 p.m PT where it aired for many years before moving up an hour on September 10, 2012.
The confirmed markets so far are New York City, Philadelphia and Raleigh, which will air GH at 3 p.m. ET starting September 8, 2014.
On that day in the Central Time Zone, the ABC affiliates in Chicago, Houston and San Antonio will move GH the 2 p.m. CT timeslot.
The network will officially announce the move soon.
What do you think of the change? Is this better or worse for GH? And does it impact your viewing schedule in a positive or negative way?
It won't stop me from watching, but it is a little disconcerting because, in Atlanta, "General Hospital" will now air at the same time as "The Young and the Restless." The local CBS affiliate airs YR at 3:00 there. I hope this won't have a negative impact on ratings for either show.
ReplyDeleteI have been able to watch GH on the DC channel at 2pm or on the Baltimore channel at 3pm. I much prefer the earlier one and hope it's not one of the ones to change.
ReplyDeleteWhen ABC starts mucking around with a good thing I feel downhearted...like I did when they took the knives to AMC and OLTL. BTW, have the replacements topped their numbers yet? I doubt it.
Just yesterday I saw an ad for the Rachel Ray show moving to 1 p.m. on the ABC station here in LA, Since 1 p.m. is when GH currently airs, I figured it would mean GH was moving to 2 p.m.
ReplyDeleteThe move could be a good in the LA market. Days of Our Lives airs at 1 p.m. as well, so that will mean the two shows won't do head to head.
I agree. In the L.A. market, live viewers will now have available to them an entire 3 1/2 hour block of the four soaps still being broadcast: 11:30 (Y&R), 12:30 (B&B), 1:00 (DAYS), and 2:00 (GH).
DeleteHopefully the show's quality will improve. The show's writing is atrocious.
