Thursday Night Ratings: SCANDAL and GREY'S ANATOMY Up, THE VAMPIRE DIARIES Steacy

Below is a roundup of preliminary ratings reports for Thursday, February 27, 2014.

From The CW:
THE VAMPIRE DIARIES returned from its two-week hiatus even with its last original episode in A18-49 (0.9/3).

In its time period, TVD outrated both ABC and NBC in W18-34 (1.3/4). It outrated ABC in A18-34 (0.9/3), and was only one tenth behind NBC in both A18-34 and A18-49.

Also returning from a two-week hiatus, REIGN held steady in A18-34 (0.5/2) and W18-34 (0.7/2) versus its last original episode.

From ABC:
ABC's SCANDAL (3.3/10) and GREY'S ANATOMY (3.0/9) finished as the #2 and #3 TV shows of the night in Adults 18-49, behind only CBS' THE BIG BANG THEORY and pacing well ahead of Fox's AMERICAN IDOL, which dropped to a new series low for the 2nd week in a row (2.3/7).

GREY'S ANATOMY (9-10 p.m. - 9.3 million and 3.0/9 in AD18-49): Tripling its Adult 18-49 lead-in at 9pm (+200%), ABC's GREY'S ANATOMY (3.0/9) dominated its hour by 36% over its nearest competition (TWO AND A HALF MEN/THE CRAZY ONES = 2.2/6). GREY'S grew over its Winter Finale (12/12/13) by double digits in Total Viewers (+11%) and Adults 18-49 (+11%), to deliver its best numbers in nearly 5 months - since 10/3/13. In fact, it was Grey's 2nd-most-watched episode this season.

SCANDAL (10-11 p.m. - 9.3 million and 3.3/10 in AD18-49): Building on its GREY'S lead-in by 10% in Adults 18-49 at 10pm, ABC's SCANDAL beat its combined drama competition by 22% in the hour (3.3/10 vs. 2.7/8 for CBS' ELEMENTARY and NBC's PARENTHOOD). SCANDAL was up over its Winter Finale (12/12/13) in Adults 18-49 (+3%) to equal the series' 2nd-highest-ever rating.

From NBC:
With its first telecast in five weeks, PARENTHOOD averaged a 1.1/3 in 18-49 and 3.6 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET. PARENTHOOD (1.1/3) maintained its 18-49 rating from the show's first half-hour to its second, despite the 10 p.m. hour, and maintained its rating or grew in nearly all other key measures -- PARENTHOOD grew from half-hour to half-hour in adults 25-54 (+8%, to a 1.4 from a 1.3) and total viewers (+4%, 3.617 million vs. 3.488 million).

· L+7 Time-Shifting: The previous PARENTHOOD grew by 81% or more than a full rating point in 18-49 going from L+SD to L+7 ratings (to a 2.33 from a 1.29).
