GENERAL HOSPITAL Back Next Season, As Expected

It's the month for soap opera renewals. On Wednesday, NBC announced the network had extended DAYS OF OUR LIVES through September 2016. Last week, CBS renewed its entire daytime lineup for next season including THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL and THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS. Now Deadline is reporting that GENERAL HOSPITAL "will continue next season." Since ABC owns GH it doesn't officially renew the show but it looks like GENERAL HOSPITAL is staying put for the foreseeable future, as expected.

Head Writer Ron Carlivati is also sticking around, according to his Twitter feed. "I just signed a new contract! So happy to be staying with @ABCNetwork & @GeneralHospital!" he wrote.

  1. Yay! I haven't missed an episode since Carlivati and Valentini took the reigns.

  2. Happy that GH as been renewed but I have to admit have mixed feelings on Ron Carlivati staying on. Bring on a Claire Labine maybe as co head writer to bring back some reality back to GH. Camp can be fun and great but having a Labine there could maybe reign in Ron Carlivat from going to far in that direction. Guess I am getting old I miss writers like Doug Marland, Bill Bell, Bridget & Jerome Dobson, Clare Labine and Agnes Nixon
