Cynthia Watros Joins THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS

Cynthia Watros is joining the cast of THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS in November, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Watros will be playing Kelly on Y&R, a character that will have "a profound influence on the lives of several characters, including Billy, Victoria and Chloe."

Her first Y&R appearance will air November 15.

The casting notice that Y&R sent out for the character described Kelly as "a grade school teacher by trade, but not currently working. She has been married, but recently divorced." It also calls for the role to last a minimum of three episodes, but Y&R will likely keep her recurring for longer than that if possible.

Watros won a Daytime Emmy Award in 1998 for her work as Annie Dutton on GUIDING LIGHT, a role she played for four years.

In August 1998, she temporarily replaced Jensen Buchanan on ANOTHER WORLD as Vicky seamlessly stepping into the role.

Her primetime credits since GUIDING LIGHT include TITUS, THE DREW CAREY SHOW and LOST, where she famously played Libby.

Earlier this year, Watros won an Indie Soap Award for her brilliant portrayal of 'Cynthia Watros' in her comedic web series CYNTHIA WATROS GETS LOST. Check out a video of her win below:

  2. It would have been interesting had Y&R hired Cynthia Watros as a Phyllis Newman replacement.

    1. I was thinking the same exact thing. It takes a special kind of person and I think it could have been her.

  3. Cynthia Watros is such a talent. I loved her on GL. She had such a great chemistry with Kim Zimmer. Best of luck to her on Y&R!

  4. I only hope that her characters involvement won't be a participant in any tragedy. I've read at least one disturbing spoiler about one of the show's young characters recently that I hope is not true.

Otherwise, I love the idea of seeing Cynthia Watros on Daytime again! I just hope Y&R doesn't waste her talents.

  5. I think the last time Y&R issued a release about a name-actress coming in to play a character who would have a profound effect on several other characters was for that "psychic" (Madame Miranda) played by Ann Magnuson just a few months ago. Let's hope it's for something better than that .. lol!

  6. Looking forward to seeing Cynthia on Y&R. I know her and her parents. Her Dad is now deceased. I knew her family on her Dad's side. Hope she gets a good part on Y&R and stays around for a long time.
