NASHVILLE's Connie Britton on trusting her voice and the Friday Night Lights movie
"The Grand Ole Opry has been through many various hardships and renovations over the years, and so there’s this circle of wood floor from the original Grand Ole Opry on the stage where you stand and sing, and you can really feel the energy of all the people who’ve been there over so many, many years. It’s really exciting. I kind of lay down and wriggled around all over it. [Laughs.]"

On the FNL movie: "I actually have a script. But I haven’t read it yet. Your readers will be so disappointed to know that I’ve been so busy working on NASHVILLE, I haven’t had time to read it yet. But there is a script. And where there’s a script, there’s a way. [Laughs.] I think there’s some serious movement forward on this. It’s just about finding a time when everyone can do it. Or at least time for everyone to read the script."

NASHVILLE nighttime soap captures fun, Music City's spark
"Nashville looks like Nashville — beautiful. There are sparkling skyline shots, views of the Cumberland River, Opryland hotel, the Titans Stadium and the Grand Ole Opry stage. Best of all, there’s nary a honky-tonk. Instead of the stereotypical camera views of lower Broadway, they shot a scene in the Hermitage Hotel’s Capitol Grille. There is one mention of Tootsies and a lone sighting of a Loveless Cafe T-shirt. Del McCoury is an extra in it. The music is flat-out enjoyable."

Salon to Mitt Romney: Please leave FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS alone
FNL is the most genuinely bipartisan piece of art American mass culture has produced in the last decade. It’s a Texas-set ode to the importance, integrity and strength of the hetero-normative family and community do-it-yourself-ism that’s also a paean to public schools and public servants and the safety nets they provide for the young and underprivileged. Coach Eric Taylor is a great man, but who could say if he votes Republican or Democrat? Depending on your political persuasion it’s possible to read “FNL” as a “red” or “blue” series — to extract the message you want out of it, to ascribe your preferences to its characters — but not because it is one or the other. Rather, it is truly both red and blue, deeply respectful of all of its characters, however one imagines they would vote.

Very funny comment! Like, who would they get to play her mother if she was the daughter?
