Dr. Jennifer Ashton: THE REVOLUTION & THE CHEW Not Meant To Replace ONE LIFE TO LIVE & ALL MY CHILDREN

Dr. Jennifer Ashton, previously a medical contributor for CBS News, will report on health issues as one of the five regulars on THE REVOLUTION, the lifestyle-oriented show that is replacing ONE LIFE TO LIVE in ABC's daytime lineup on January 16.

She tells Zap2it that she feels for ONE LIFE TO LIVE fans.

"I feel empathy and sympathy for them," she says, "for the fact that something they were so attached to is no longer going to be there. I think we're very aware that a lot of those people will not have an open mind in terms of considering THE REVOLUTION or THE CHEW as shows they might be interested in watching.

"I would say the same thing to them as I say to my patients in my office ... understand that there are multiple options available to you. It's a free country, and you don't have to do anything, but I think our show offers so much that some people might actually be surprised."

Ashton adds, "Nothing is ever going to replace what ONE LIFE TO LIVE and ALL MY CHILDREN meant to people over decades, but this isn't really meant to replace that. It's kind of apples and oranges."

  1. I have not watched one showing of the Chew.

IMO, they took a time-spot that was so, important to all of us, AMC fans.

I hope that they realize, the hurt that this choice has done to many generations of "women".

  3. It is apples & oranges, indeed. Quality scripted programs that can provide a wonderful escape from the stresses of life, vs. yet another show telling us what we should be doing. There is a glut of the latter already. The world certainly doesn't need another one.It makes no difference whether or not I'm a soap opera fan. I wouldn't be interested in watching The Chew or The Revolution in any case.

  4. Hey Lady, you're a doctor, you should know that it's more like fresh fruit and the 'meatlike' substance found in the tacos of fast food establishments. Sorry doctor lady, I've not one whit of interest in your's, ABC's, and Ricky Rat's canned hash. When my beloved soap is gone, all the stations residing under the umbrella of that bloated and greedy conglomerate will be persona non grata in my home.

As a viewer, I seek quality scripted programming. A cheap magazine format of same old yada and blah... I don't think so. , But have fun. I'm sure you won't allow your love of soaps deter you from hyping it's demise. Funny, the Spanish Soaps seem to be doing very well, time to brush up on my Spanish. You go along now...have a nice day -__- .

  5. More psycho babble from a celebrity wannabe trying to hype a show. I work by day and watch the soaps at night and you can bet I won't be recording The Chew - (The Old and the Chewed Up) - or The Revolution - (As The Revolting Advice Turns) - for later viewing. I and others prefer scripted drama, not a self help blab fest full of advice mongers. I can run my own life, thank you. Good bye ABC, you will be off my screen altogether come Jan. 16. I wonder if the folks who fill these new shows will be in the public eye as long as Erika Slezak and Susan Lucci came into our homes? DOUBTFUL.

  6. Great, another female Dr who knows everything.

I bet she's really a PA and not an MD.

  7. I won't watch either one of these shows. We don't need another food show or another take show. I think this is awful to take shows that people loved for years. The soaps are a part of relaxation for most women. How can you say that they are not replacing the soaps. Really????

  8. I belong to a gym and have a personal trainer. I don't need the freaking revolution.

I am just sick over One Life to Live leaving. It is my favorite of the former ABC line up.

  9. Being sympathetic to our cause isn't going to make me have a change of heart and watch your show. I refuse to watch The Chew or The Revolution. I won't be watching the Steve Harvey talk show that will be replacing my GH next fall in the 3:00 spot on my local ABC,either.
