WE LOVE SOAPS TV 3.16 Jacklyn Zeman Talks THE BAY, Character Driven Drama & Zestra!

On Episode 3.16, Damon L. Jacobs speaks with longtime GENERAL HOSPITAL actress Jacklyn Zeman about her new role as national spokesperson for Zestra® Essential Arousal Oils™, her "fun" character on THE BAY (Sophia Madison), and how daytime soaps have gotten away from character driven drama. This is the first of a two-episode interview.

"It's going in this direction," says about the future of entertainment moving to the web. "The internet is becoming so powerful. If you want to stay in the game, that's where it is right now."

Comparing indie soaps on the web to daytime soaps, Zeman says, "There's a lot less network control. It got to the point where a lot of what was going on on soaps was network control, budgets, meetings, focus groups."

"I can't think of the name of any head writers that were allowed to write what they wanted to write anymore," Zeman adds. They were all being dictated to by what focus groups were saying and sponsors and placements for ads. Which is probably why the integrity of the shows and the storylines are not the same."

  1. I couldn't agree more! Jackie Zeman hit the nail on the head when listing the reasons for the decline of network soaps. Loved the southern accent! Looking forward to seeing her on The Bay.
