TCA 2011: NBC says they are committed to DAYS OF OUR LIVES
“It’s the only soap we have and I think it does relatively well for us,” NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt at today’s 2011 Summer TCA press session.

Greenblatt also says the other networks shedding their schedules of soaps could also open up more of an audience for NBC’s DAYS, but Greenblatt cautions that this genre may “sort of be going into the twilight years of its existence with all the other talk shows and syndicated shows that are out there.”

“At the moment, we are really happy with its performance and I think it will be on for awhile,” concludes Greenblatt.

Drake Hogestyn says fans will see the John Black "they have known" on DAYS
“The John Black that they will see is the John Black that they have known. It’s not the half-baked, emotionally void John Black, which was a fun character to play,” Hogestyn admitted.

No longer needing back surgery, Robin Strasser would return to ONE LIFE TO LIVE
"Since I am not going to be having an immediate surgery, if the show needed me and I can walk, I'd run to Llanview! If they want, they can consider me part of the recurring group. It's a badge of honor as far as I'm concerned — that would put me in the company of the fabulous Ilene Kristen [Roxie] and Patricia Elliott [Renee]. I would have been fine about becoming Great Aunt Dorian with the hair and the clothes just getting flashier and crazier as the years go on. I really would!"

Justin Bruening to Vie for Sarah Michelle Gellar's Affections on RINGER
Bruening will play Tyler, who pursues Siobhan, one of the twin sisters Sarah Michelle Gellar plays. Tyler will have a lot of competition to deal with, though: Siobhan's already in a triangle with her husband (Ioan Gruffudd) and her lover (Kristoffer Polaha).

James Franco on returning to GENERAL HOSPITAL: I just hope it doesn't get canceled before we can pull this off
"I have a really big project planned for that show, it's just I don't have time to pull that part of it off yet," Franco said, talking of a return that would involve bringing together "three worlds" instead of two. "I'm just crossing my fingers. I just hope it doesn't get canceled before we can pull this off because it's going to be awesome."

Y&R's Genie Francis begins shooting TV movie in Victoria next week
Twenty-nine years after GH went on location in Victoria, Francis will be in town to reprise her role as newspaper columnist Peyton MacGruder in The Note: The Heart Healer, the Hallmark Channel's third made-for-TV movie inspired by Angela Hunt's novel.

Dentist accused of burning patient while watching a soap opera on TV
An Illinois woman has filed a lawsuit claiming a dentist she went to in 2009 burned a hole in her lip while watching a soap opera during a dental procedure, according to a report by WLS 890AM.

The lawsuit, which seeks more than $180,000, claims medical negligence, medical battery, ordinary negligence, and spoliation of evidence because medical records were allegedly lost.

The dentist, Maria Loukas, DDS, says the accusations are "totally false," according to WLS.

Ryan Reynolds talks about his first gig on Canadian soap opera FIFTEEN on LENO
Reynolds began, “You are about to humiliate me… It was a Canadian soap opera. Canadian problems aren’t as bad as American problems so the show didn’t really catch on.”
