NEWS: Port Chuck, Kathryn Hays, Barbeau, Couric to ABC Daytime?

From the soaps to the Sun: GENERAL HOSPITAL actors trade TV roles for music
"They have said, unless it's someone like Bon Jovi or someone gigantic, they've never seen a fan reaction like this, ever. That's what people don't understand about soap fans. I mean, we were in Staten Island, and people were chasing the bus. They're like, 'Is this the Beatles? What the heck is happening here?'"

"In the old days, that's what we would do at malls. They'd put us behind a table and sign 8-by-10s for two hours, and you're done," Burton says. "There was no kind of interaction, no personal contact, there was really nothing. Especially with soap fans, they feel like they're such a part of your life - we're such a part of their life because we're on five days a week, so I just wanted to make it more entertaining."

ABC play for Katie Couric?
Variety reports: "It's no secret that ABC intends to pare down its three-hour slate of daytime sudsers in the coming years. A Couric show could be a high-profile transition for the Alphabet in one of the time slots now occupied by its decades-old serials."

ATWT's Kathryn Hays appears in new Glenn Ford book
The biography of legendary film star Glenn Ford is being released next Saturday, April 16th. Already a huge hit in pre-sales at Amazon.com, "Glenn Ford: A Life" is going to be a shocker to fans of this Hollywood legend.

After his marriage ended to first wife, MGM dancer and actress Eleanor Powell, with whom he had his one and only child, Peter, he married Kathryn Hays, who starred in AS THE WORLD TURNS as Kim Hughes from 1972 until the show ended in 2010.

Glenn's marriage to Kathryn ended after only three years; however, they remained friends, and the book speaks highly of Hays. "We always loved her," says Tommy. "Kathy married Glenn because she loved him. She was never a user or an opportunist. We always loved her and still do."

Decca Records to Release "How to Succeed" Cast Album
The cast of the 50th anniversary revival of the Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning musical, including former AS THE WORLD TURNS star Michael Park, is currently in a Manhattan recording studio capturing the classic, jazz-inflected Frank Loesser score.

Adrienne Barbeau finished at GENERAL HOSPITAL, for now
"Said good-bye to GH today," the actress noted on Twitter. "Worked with some lovely people and had a good time. Thanks to all the folks in Port Charles."

First Look: Claire Danes Returns to TV in Showtime's HOMELAND
The drama, which was just picked up to series, revolves around a CIA officer (played by Danes) who becomes convinced that the intelligence that led to the rescue of a presumed-dead U.S. soldier (Damian Lewis) was a setup, and may be connected to an Al Qaeda plot to be carried out on American soil. A bearded Mandy Patinkin also stars as a veteran CIA Division Chief who serves as a mentor to Danes’ character.

Genie Francis' Y&R character named
"This is going to be a very, very different character than we've seen Genie Francis portray," teases Co-Head Writer Scott Hamner about her new role as Genevieve.

  1. Hi We Love Soaps... I love your site and visit it daily. But the main reason I visit is because of your amazing in-depth soapstar interviews. I haven't seen one in awhile. Any forthcoming?

    Thanks for all you do!
