Sno'Ball Avalanche at NBC Studios

We get a lot of press releases and emails from various fan campaigns and we don't publish many. But we received one today including one of my favorite things in life, pink Hostess® Sno'Balls®, so I felt compelled to post. Read below to find out more.

Sno'BALL Avalanche at NBC Studios

Fans launch 4,000 “Sno'balls” at DAYS OF OUR LIVES in support of popular soap opera couple. soap opera couple.

BURBANK, CA, September 21 – More than 4,000 pink sno’balls will hit NBC Studios this week as part of “Operation Sno’ball,” a fan-based campaign to support the popular pairing and love story of DAYS OF OUR LIVES characters “Bo Brady” and “Carly Manning,” as played by actors Peter Reckell and Crystal Chappell.

The “Operation Sno’ball” avalanche engaged fans from countries around the world, including the United States, Canada, Turkey, China, Australia, Argentina, Italy, Norway and Nigeria. Participants wrote letters of support for “Bo & Carly” and sent them along with pink sno’balls to DAYS OF OUR LIVES producers, writers, actors and staff. Hundreds of letters and more than 4,000 sno’balls were sent.

The pink sno’ball has a direct connection to Days of Our Lives characters Bo and Carly. In 1990, when their love story first began, Bo presented a pink sno’ball to Carly in lieu of a birthday cake. It was later revealed that the characters fell in love that day. The sno’ball went on to make one more appearance in a romantic dream sequence. (www.snoball.saveboandcarly.com) Although the romance ended just a few years later when both Peter Reckell and Crystal Chappell left the show, it was never forgotten by fans.

In 2009, after a 17-year absence from the screen, the “Bo & Carly” love story began anew when Emmy-winning actress Crystal Chappell reprised her role as Carly Manning and her character was reunited with Peter Reckell’s Bo Brady. Since Chappell’s return, thousands of original Bo and Carly fans have returned to watch their favorites again and legions of new fans have been drawn in by the powerful love story and the palpable onscreen chemistry of the two actors.

“Operation Sno’ball” is the creation of “Save Bo and Carly,” a grassroots organization developed by a group of soap opera fans who met online through social media including twitter, YouTube, Facebook and message boards. The group is led by six volunteer team members and has garnered the support of hundreds of new and returning Bo and Carly fans spanning six continents. Formed in June of 2010, “Save Bo and Carly” began when a core group of fans discovered that Days of Our Lives Executive Producer Ken Corday was planning to split the crowd-pleasing soap couple. The mission of the “Save Bo and Carly” team is to influence DAYS executives to continue airing the “Bo & Carly” love story.

“Bo and Carly have chemistry that is unparalleled,” said Hillary of Calgary, Alberta. “Every scene, every moment between them is heavenly. We want and need more of this incredible love story. We want to see a return to the dramatic, angst-filled romance soap operas made famous in the 1990s.”
