Mischa Barton mess forces BEAUTIFUL LIFE to prep contingency plan
THE BEAUTIFUL LIFE will go on, with or without its troubled star Mischa Barton. Although reps for The CW and CBS Television Studios declined to comment, multiple sources confirm that producers of the upcoming model-centric drama are quietly readying a Plan B in light of the former O.C. actress' current medical woes. Said plan involves the addition of a new female character to fill the void left by Barton. While not a direct recast, the new recurring character -- tentatively named Jane -- would bear a striking resemblance to Barton's experienced supermodel, Sonja Stone. Casting is underway.

INTERVIEW: ATWT's Forbes March (Mason)
"They've done a very slow introduction of this character, which I think is a good thing because of the dynamic of professor and student. If they just threw him right in a flirtation, it would be repulsive. It would be an abuse of power. They have to take their time to allow that attraction to build in a way that is not only acceptable, but believable."

GH's Jason Cook joins Country for Kids
A country music festival in Smeaton is growing with the addition of soap star Jason Cook (Matt, GENERAL HOSPITAL). Country for Kids, to be held outdoors at the town's old airstrip on Saturday and Sunday, is a fundraiser for Smeaton Independent School.

"When my friend Blake Emmons told me about the project in Smeaton I was immediately reminded of my own school days," Cook said in a release. "I come from a rural setting and was fortunate enough to enjoy the benefits of a close community that really cared about the welfare of their kids. It's obvious to me that what is at stake here is the future of a group of children and therefore the future of a community."

  1. From what I've read, Mischa Barton is suffering from a mental illness. Shouldn't we offer her the same kind of support that Maura Tierney is receiving with her struggle with a breast tumor?

There is a nasty stigma associated with mental illness in our society. People who suffer from mental illness are no more guilty of their poor health than most other diseases.
