HAWTHORNE & SAVING GRACE Tonight on TNT

HAWTHORNE premieres tonight at 9pm (ET/PT). Jada Pinkett Smith is the latest talented actress to join TNT’s line-up of strong, complex female characters, following in the footsteps of Kyra Sedgwick on THE CLOSER and Holly Hunter of SAVING GRACE. This summer, Pinkett Smith executive-produces and stars in HAWTHORNE, a character-driven drama series about a nurse who is a true everyday hero.

Joining Pinkett Smith in HAWTHORNE is Michael Vartan as Dr. Tom Wakefield, the oncologist who treated Christina’s husband and serves as Chief of Surgery for the hospital. The cast also includes Suleka Mathew as Bobbie Jackson, a fellow nurse and one of Hawthorne’s best friends; David Julian Hirsh as Ray Stein, a nurse struggling with being accepted in a female-dominated profession; Christina Moore as Candy Sullivan, a nurse with a unique sense of duty; and Hannah Hodson as Camille, Hawthorne’s daughter. In addition, special guest star Joanna Cassidy portrays Amanda, Hawthorne’s mother-in-law, who also happens to be a member of the hospital board.

SAVING GRACE premieres tonight at 10pm (ET/PT). TNT’s bold series SAVING GRACE is set to return for a third season starring Academy Award® winner Holly Hunter as gutsy Oklahoma City Police Det. Grace Hanadarko, a woman who holds nothing back, whether on the job or in her personal life. Hunter’s acclaimed performance has earned the actress two consecutive Screen Actors Guild Award® nominations. She is joined in the series by an ensemble cast that includes Leon Rippy, Kenneth Johnson, Bailey Chase (ex-Chris, AS THE WORLD TURNS), Gregory Cruz , Yaani King and Dylan Minnette , with Lorraine Toussaint and Laura San Giacomo.

Whether showing humanity to a homeless woman, trying to talk a suicidal cancer patient off a ledge or exposing a doctor’s near-fatal error, Hawthorne will do everything in her power to help her patients. When a patient’s care is at risk, she doesn’t hesitate to violate protocol, defend her staff or stand up to administrators who seem to have forgotten a hospital’s true purpose.

But the long days at the hospital and Hawthorne’s intense focus on helping others take a toll on her personal life. Christina is recently widowed – her husband died one year ago after a battle with cancer, leaving her to raise a smart, rebellious teen-age daughter on her own. Hawthorne is still coming to terms with losing her husband, finding a way to balance her career with her equally important role as a single parent, and finding the time to take care of someone who always seems to fall through the cracks – herself.

SAVING GRACE focuses on Det. Hanadarko (Hunter) as she investigates brutal crimes while trying to balance her relationship with her partner, Ham (Johnson). Grace also must figure out cryptic messages from her last-chance angel, Earl (Rippy). At the end of the second season, death row inmate Leon Cooley, who shared visions of Earl with Grace, was executed, leaving a hole in Grace’s life. Soon, she began having dreams of a young drug addict named Neely (King), which lead Grace to believe Neely also shares a connection with Earl.

Meanwhile, Ham’s divorce was finalized. Ham hopes he and Grace can finally be together, but Grace might not be on the same page. This season, we will learn more about the personal lives of fellow detectives Bobby Stillwater (Cruz), Butch Ada (Chase) and Captain Kate Perry (Toussaint).

Grace’s best friend, criminalist Rhetta Rodriquez (San Giacomo), has financial problems that could threaten her marriage. And Grace’s nephew, Clay (Minnette), continues to be an OCPD Explorer, helping out at the police station.
