Susan Lucci Named "Woman of the Year"

ALL MY CHILDREN Emmy winner and entrepreneur Susan Lucci (Erica) was named "Woman of the Year" at The Pajama Program Benefit Committee's Seventh Annual Awards Luncheon earlier today at The Pierre Hotel in New York City. THE VIEW's Sherri Shepherd presented Lucci with the award.

The other honorees were Rose Rock ("Mother of the Year") and Derrick Mayes ("Humanitarian of the Year").

The Pajama Program provides new pajamas and new books to children in need, many who are waiting and hoping to be adopted. Thousands of the children we serve live in orphanages, group homes and shelters and are shuffled often between temporary living facilities. Many of them have been abused or abandoned, and have never enjoyed the simple comfort of having a mother or father tuck them in at bedtime and read to them. Since 2001 they have provided more than 350,000 pajamas and 140,000 books to children in need nationwide through their 74 chapters in 42 States nationwide.
