Stars Speak Out on Prop 8 Ruling

The California Supreme Court upheld Proposition 8 by a vote of 6-1 in a ruling released Tuesday. However, the 18,000 same-sex marriages performed before Proposition 8 took effect will remain valid.

Some stars tweeted their feelings after the decision came down.

@edenriegel Heartbreaking CA Supreme Court decision. I am ashamed. Let's raise some $ for a new ballot measure next year. I know we can do this. The people who are on the wrong side of history will soon be outnumbered.

@bryangreenberg Cali Supreme court are you kidding me?! If 2 people love each other and wanna get married it's fine by me.

Earlier in the day, AMC's Chrishell Stause was hopeful.

@Chrishell7 I hope California gets it right today and #rejectprop8 Sad to not have equal rights in 2009

Moments after the decision was handed down, hundreds of people outside the California Supreme Court began chanting "Shame on you, shame on you."
