INTERVIEW: Y&R's Kate Linder (Esther)
Kate Linder was named celebrity spokesperson for The ALS Association in early 2005. Earlier this month, she went to Washington to lobby for more funds to fight ALS – Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis – for the fifth year in a row.
Linder said: "My brother-in-law, Scott, was diagnosed with ALS in 2004, and I had heard about ALS before because Michael Zaslow, who was on GUIDING LIGHT, had it. When Scott came down with it, I thought 'Oh gosh, I have to get involved and see what I can do here'."

Hughes, Consuelos and Webster in Lifetime Movie Network film
The fashion police are out in force this summer as Lifetime Movie Network premieres two fashionably fabulous murder mysteries. Maggie Lawson stars as Lacey Smithsonian, a Washington, D.C., fashion reporter whose beat turns deadly when she stumbles upon some hair-raising murders in Killer Hair and Hostile Makeover. Mark Consuelos (ALL MY CHILDREN), Mario Cantone, Emmy Award-winner Finola Hughes (GENERAL HOSPITAL), Mary McDonnell and Victor Webster (DAYS OF OUR LIVES) round out the "ensemble." Killer Hair premieres on Sunday, June 21, at 8pm ET/9pm PT, and Hostile Makeover premieres on Sunday, June 28, at 8pm ET/9pm PT on Lifetime Movie Network, Lifetime's sister network and the second highest rated women's channel.
Deep Soap: Canary In The Coal Mine
Sara Bibel writes: "Last week featured some brilliant performances that elevated mediocre storylines into compelling television. I hate that All My Children killed off Stuart. But David Canary’s portrayal of Adam’s grief was incredibly moving. His guilty realization that Stuart took a bullet meant for him was heartbreaking. The scene where he broke down at the sight of his twin brother’s body was one of the Emmy Award winning actor’s most powerful."
Primetime Emmy Watch: Drama
It's the year after the Big Breakthrough at the Primetime Emmy Awards. The question is no longer how long it will be until there's drama series parity between broadcast and cable networks, but rather whether the Big Four can compete in this category on even terms any more.
