Beginning today, in response to viewers' love for not only their favorite ABC shows, but also the music in them, ABC Entertainment launches the ABC Music Lounge on ABC.com, providing users with an interactive online music experience that is uniquely ABC. Reflective of the network's commitment to using digital platforms to deepen its relationship with viewers, the ABC Music Lounge showcases everything about the music and artists featured on ABC's popular primetime schedule, offering a deep catalog of music-related content.
The site features a streaming radio station programmed with over twelve hours of music featured on such ABC series as BROTHERS & SISTERS, DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES, GREY'S ANATOMY, PRIVATE PRACTICE and UGLY BETTY, among others. Visitors to the site will get a glimpse of ABC's music future as the radio station will also showcase new music picked by series producers, music supervisors and others involved in the music selection process for shows that have previously seen tremendous success. In addition to a streaming radio station, the ABC Music Lounge is home to music videos, exclusive performance footage, photos and behind-the-scenes interviews with artists, series producers and music supervisors on topics such as why certain songs were chosen for specific scenes and how having their music featured within a show affected their careers.
In celebration of the premiere of the 100th episode of GREY'S ANATOMY, the Music Lounge is launching with a complete retrospective of the music featured over the series' current and previous seasons, including exclusive footage of performances by Anya Marina, whose singles "Miss Halfway" and "Move You" were featured in episode 2-03 and 3-18, respectively; Joshua Radin, whose "One of Those Days" and "Someone Else's Life" were featured earlier this season; and Greg Laswell, whose single "Comes and Goes (in Waves) was featured this season. Additionally, the first track to be featured on the Music Lounge's streaming radio station when it premiered earlier today was Rilo Kiley's "Portions For Foxes," which was also the first song ever played on GREY'S ANATOMY.
Specific features of the ABC Music Lounge include:
* An online streaming radio station updated daily and uniquely programmed with songs from over 200 artists featured on ABC
* Featured artists pages
* Celebrity playlists from ABC series talent and featured musical artists
* Series pages featuring episodic music guides
* Visitors to the site will also have the ability to purchase featured songs via Amazon MP3, Amazon.com's digital music store
Additional artists showcased on the site at launch include Adele, The Fray, Lenka, Maria Taylor, Keane, Bryn Christopher and Snow Patrol, among others.
I guess the music from Ryan's Hope from 1982-89 won't be included.
