Per Huber & Martsolf, Passions Canceled Again

As previously reported, a message supposedly from Tracey Ross was posted on a message board that "Passions" was being canceled by DirecTV. Liza Huber (Gwen) has now posted a confirmation on her message board as well:

"Hi Everyone,
Yes, it is true that Passions will finish taping at the end of March 2008. We will start airing 3 days a week on DirecTV which should last through summer of 2008. It has been a wonderful ride (although Gwen has completely lost her mind!) and I want to thank all of you for your amazing support for Passions through the years!

much love - Liza"

Eric Martsolf (Ethan) also confirmed the cancelation on his message board:

"This rumor is indeed true at this point. Passions is scheduled to stop shooting March 2008.
Eric"

"Passions" debuted in July 1999 replacing beloved 35 year legenedary soap "Another World." The show quickly won the hearts of younger fans and stayed at or near the top of the teen girl and young female demos. But somewhere along the line, many fans lost interest and James E. Reilly's stories became less and less creative. The show was canceled by NBC earlier this year but picked up by DirecTV to air on The 101. The show has been airing four days a week with repeats in the evening and on weekends since September.

"As The World Turns" and "Guiding Light" are up for renewal in September 2008 so "Passions" may not be the only soap leaving the airwaves next year. Both ATWT and GL have begun a new taping technique aimed to cut production costs in half.
