'Days of our Lives' 50th Anniversary Spoiler: Major Story Begins in Late August

NBC soap opera Days of our Lives will celebrate its 50th anniversary in November, and will kick off a new umbrella story later this month that will build momentum throughout the fall. According to EW, a plot will bring the residents of Salem together only to tear them apart.

In late August, an elaborate murder mystery plot kicks off that will see several of the town's residents — and perhaps even some of the town’s former, fan-favorite residents — meeting their demise.

During the anniversary week of November 9-13 (Days premiered November 8, 1965), the murder mystery plot will culminate in a “huge reveal,” the network has promised.

As previously reported, a number of fan favorites are returning including Stephen Nichols (Steve), Alison Sweeney (Sami), Peter Reckell (Bo), Thaoo Penghlis (Andre), Martha Madison (Belle), Jason Cook (Shawn), Tamara Braun (Ava) and Camila Banus (Gabi).

  1. I felt Aiden was going to be murdered by Clyde, wonder if that will be a part of this murder mystery?

  2. A mass murderer could be fun. It was a decade ago when Marlena was killing everyone.

But let's hope when it's time for the killer to be revealed that Soap Opera Digest doesn't spoil it by announcing the killer on its cover a week BEFORE the on-screen reveal. That's what they did in 2004 with its cover revealing Marlena as the killer. Talk about irresponsible journalism.

  4. I was so mad about that Soap Digest cover that I cancelled my subscription! But DAYS is equally to blame for doing the story. I just hope that this will be a real murder mystery with actual deaths and a sensible motivation and not a trip back to the island of Melaswen. Did we ever find out where all of those dead people who look just like Marlena's victims came from?
