Telemundo’s live broadcast of the first-ever PREMIOS TU MUNDO (Your World Awards) from the Fillmore Miami Beach at the Jackie Gleason Theater, celebrated the best in novelas, music, fashion, movies and sports, in an extraordinary event hosted by telenovela stars Gaby Espino and Rafael Amaya and featuring high energy performances and appearances by top Hispanic celebrities.Top honors went to the novela MI CORAZON INSIST, which was awarded Novela of the Year, Favorite Lead Actor: Jencarlos Canela, Best Bad Luck Moment and Best Novela Soundtrack.
Fans from all over the country placed close to five million votes online at www.premiostumundo.com and through Telemundo’s entertainment iPhone App, for their favorite TV shows, actors and actresses, movies, music, athletes, and stars in 24 categories.
Tito El Bambino, David Bisbal, Roberto Tapia, La Original Banda El Limon, Jencarlos Canela, Jesse & Joy, Gocho, Los Horoscopos de Durango and Chuy Lizarraga, among other, delivered electrifying music performances. In addition, “Premios Tu Mundo” featured top celebrities, including music artists Lupillo Rivera and Fonseca; Telemundo TV personalities Ana Maria Polo, Maria Celeste Arraras and Penelope Menchaca; and Telemundo novela stars Saul Lisazo, Marlene Favela, Sonya Smith, Jorge Luis Pila and Felicia Mercado. The awards show was preceded by the celebrity arrivals preshow “La Alfombra de Premios Tu Mundo,” hosted by Hector Soberon and Alessandra Villegas, with Quique Usales, Guad Venegas and guest fashion expert Kika Rocha.
Other Premios Tu Mundo winners include “La Casa de al Lado,” and “Una Maid en Manhattan” honored with two awards each; while “Flor Salvaje” was honored with one award. Winners in music categories included: “Dutty Love” by Don Omar featuring Natti Natasha for The Party Starting Song; “Las Cosas Pequeñas” by Prince Royce for Song that Steals My Heart; and “Follow the Leader” - Wisin y Yandel featuring Jennifer Lopez for Best Musical Video. In film, Jennifer Lopez was named Favorite Latino in Hollywood and The Avengers got the nod for Favorite Film. Best Athlete of the Year went to Marlen Esparza, and Rafael Nadal won the Most Charismatic Athlete award; while the Favorite Supermodel award went to Adriana Lima, the I’m Sexy and I Know It award went to Anahi, and the That’s Crazy! award to popular show “Caso Cerrado.”
