On this date in...

1973: Suzanne Rogers debuted as Maggie Horton in DAYS OF OUR LIVES.  Amnesiac Mickey Horton stumbled onto Maggie's farm that day.

1974: On ANOTHER WORLD, Alice told Steve she was freeing him from their marriage.

1979: On THE EDGE OF NIGHT, Tobias was the talk of the town, and Paige encountered a masked man with a gun.



1987: On RYAN'S HOPE, on John (Jason Adams) and Lizzie's (Catherine Larson) wedding day, but Ben (James Wlcek) "kidnapped" the bride before she could walk down the aisle.



1989: SAVED BY THE BELL, which launched the careers of Mario Lopez, Tiffani-Amber Thiessen, Elizabeth Berkeley, Mark-Paul Gosselaar and Lark Voorhies, debuted on NBC's Saturday morning lineup.

1999: On GENERAL HOSPITAL, Jax found Chloe lying motionless on the ground.

2006: ALL MY CHILDREN's Jacob Young gave his final performance as Lumiere in Disney's "Beauty and the Beast" on Broadway after a three month run.

2009: On GUIDING LIGHT, Jonathan returned to check on Reva.

  1. I was a little girl when The Edge of Night went off the air so I can recall very little of the show but I do remember how what I saw of the show and the theme song used to scare me a little. Now, hearing it, I appreciate it's haunting, sexy quality-- I quite like it!

  2. It's funny how our perspective can change like that over time. I wish we could see soap reruns on a cable channel. When I was a teenager and into college EDGE and SFT aired on USA Network.
