Today in Soap Opera History (July 30) - SANTA BARBARA Premiered, The Slut of Springfield

1968: On DARK SHADOWS, after trying and failing to kill Barnabas (Jonathan Frid), Cassandra (Lara Parker) continued to age rapidly, thanks to Nicholas.

1984: NBC soap opera SANTA BARBARA, created by Bridget and Jerome Dobson, debuted. The show lasted 2,137 episodes before finishing its run in the U.S. in 1993. The show continued to air around the world and became an international hit.

1996: The Chieftains appeared in ONE LIFE TO LIVE.



2001: Mexican telenovela AMIGAS Y RIVALES debuted on Televisa.

2001: On THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL, Brooke begged Thorne for another chance.

  3. Pretty amazing to think Reva baptized herself the Slut of Springfield on the same day Santa Barbara debuted. I remember both so well.
