Eileen Davidsoon took to Twitter on Wednesday to lament losing her job as Ashley Abbott on THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS.Change is in the air, people! Last week I lost my childcare. This week I lost my job! It all works out because I don't need a babysitter if I'm not working.#beingpositive
Co-star Michelle Stafford tweeted a follow up with more information:
My gorgeous friend @eileen_davidson was not fired!! She was "let go" FOR NOW! She is a shining star! Don't want her perceived in a bad way
Davidson was fired from Y&R in 2006 but always tries to look at the positive side of things.
"I had never been fired before from an acting job," Davidson said in a recent interview. "Yeah, it was very, very difficult. But it was a blessing in disguise because, first of all, I kind of found out how much everybody liked me and really cared about me because there was such an outpouring of upset over the fact that I had been fired.
"And then I got to go over to THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL for a couple of years, which is a terrific show, wonderful people. So it all worked out for the best."
Earlier on Wednesday, Daytime Confidential's Jamey Giddens reported that Davidson may have been let go from Y&R.

SERIOUSLY? We have DAISY but they are FIRING Eileen Davidson? This is insane. I think "The Young and the Restless" is trying to do the same thing as "The Bold and the Beautiful" - reinvent themselves - but they are doing it ALL WRONG! No wonder their ratings are in the toilet.
The character, Ashley, has gone kind of stale and been outplayed. Maybe a hiatus will breathe new life into a future recast. Eileen Davidson has done a great job and I wish her well! Maybe she'll be at Y&R again in the future when they resurrect the character.
She has a great attitude. I kind of agree about the character of Ashley, at least with the current writers. Tucker/Ashley and now Harmony have been kind of tedious. Eileen seems adventurous though and I could see her doing any number of cool things in the future.
omg while i hate this for y&r, this could spell GOLD for DAYS....with john and marlena back, they could rehire eileen davidson and resurrect Kristen Blake!!!!!!

The Ashley Abbott character is stale but IMHO, so are these characters: Nikki Newman, Sharon Newman, Nick & Phyllis Newman...I could name a few more but I won't. Y&R could also stand a new writing team, too. Again, my honest opinion.
Ashley has been my favorite female character for decades. I was contemplating freeing up the 40 minutes a day I waste, and this seals the deal.
The real class of the show is gone with this great actress..I have loved her since I was 11 years old..I don't waste my time on Y&R anymore...writers are the ones who should be fired ..its crap.
UGH. They shove Daisy down our throats day after day. And now BlandEden. And they're letting Eileen Freakin' Davidson GO? Are they insane???
I'd rather see Ashley read the Genoa City phone book than deal with SORAS'd shenanigans this summer with actors we don't know or care about.

They did not kill Eileen Davidson off the show,so it is either she is coming back or they will replace her. She fit in very well with the rest of Abbotts family. Can they really let her go? Is that the way she left the show, I will see what happen.

Really sad to see this news. You're right, they left the door open, but I will miss her and wish her all the best.
I am really, really dissappointed. Eileen was classy, beautiful and fit the part. I was upset when she left years ago and was ecstatic when she returned. Now her absence will be a huge void in the show. Get her back, please!
Y&R is slowly becoming a joke! Firing Eileen Davidson is just an example of how bad they are getting. Getting rid of the creepy "Adam" character and his sickening sweet wife would be a better idea. The writing continues to get worst with each episode. I DVR it and fast-forward about 50% of the show. It's getting to be so, so boring!
