Indie Series Awards: Check Out the Best Drama Series Nominees


The 10th Annual Indie Series Awards are coming up on April 3 at The Colony Theatre in Burbank, California. If you are looking for a new "story" to watch, I highly recommend the eight shows nominated in the Best Drama Series category. They represent the very best of indie drama in 2018. CONVERSATIONS IN L.A.
The story of Michelle Macabee (Anne Marie Cummings), an unemployed, menopausal woman who goes through the rewards and difficulties of redefining herself at midlife. When she meets the sexy and much younger Hispanic – Gus Borrero (Gustavo Velasquez) – they have an unexpected connection they discover is worth fighting for, despite the challenges of their age difference, their pasts, and the strong opinions of friends, family, and everyone they have conversations with in the City of Angels.

ONLY CHILDREN
A character-driven dramedy about four unique friends that are all only children in their thirties—Ray (Wayne Wilcox), Daysha (Keylor Leigh), Molly (Ji Bak) and Mohammed (Tim Wardell)—who rely on each other as family to get through the everyday ups and downs of love and life.

RILEY PARRA
Detective Riley Parra (played by last year's best lead actress winner Marem Hassler) grew up in the bad part of town, the crime-ridden No Man’s Land. Now, as a cop in a corrupt department, she strives to make sure the rough streets she left behind aren't forgotten. She takes the cases that would otherwise be ignored or left unsolved because no one cared enough to dig deeper. One such case leads her to the discovery that No Man’s Land is a battleground between angels and demons, a supernatural war that's been waged for centuries. Thrown into a world she never believed could exist and told that she’s the only chance of defeating evil, Riley chooses to accept the title of Champion for Good.
