1938: Frank and Anne Hummert radio soap opera Stella Dallas aired on New York local station WEAF for the final time before going national on NBC with the following episode. The popular series ran on NBC until December 23, 1955.
1969: On Dark Shadows, Quentin's (David Selby) ghost revealed to David that if any one of three things could have been changed, he might have been saved: first there was the discovery of a silver bullet at Collinwood; then the one person who could have helped him was murdered and he claimed he could not tell David everything; third, the one person who loved him turned against him.
1971: On The Doctors, Dr. Nick Bellini (Gerald Gordon) stressed to Dr. Mike Powers (Peter Burnell) that he have patience with their experiment.
1980: On The Edge of Night, Raven (Sharon Gabet) and Cliff (Ernie Townsend) went out on a date.
1985: On Santa Barbara, at Cruz's re-enactment of Channing's death, Sophia (Judith McConnell) was revealed as the killer.
1988: On Days of our Lives, Abe (James Reynolds) and "Roman" (Drake Hogestyn) received promotions.
1990: Actor Tom Brown, who played Al Weeks on General Hospital, died at age 77.
1996: A jazz variation of Guiding Light's "Hold On to Love" theme aired for the first time.

1998: On The Young and the Restless, the marriage of Cole Howard and Victoria Newman (J. Eddie Peck and Heather Tom) came to an end in divorce court, with the couple left to reconcile their past and whatever feelings might remain before moving on.

2002: On Australian soap Home and Away, a storm approached as guests were enjoying a dinner cruise in the harbor. Kirsty, who was supposed to be grounded, got in big trouble when her parents saw her onboard. Meanwhile, Kirsty discovered that Kane was on the boat, and warned Dani. As the storm worsened, the boat started taking on water, forcing the guests to abandon ship.
2007: Primetime serial Army Wives premiered on the Lifetime Network. The show ran for 7 seasons with a total of 117 episodes.
2009: On As the World Turns, the Hughes family held a memorial service for Adam.
2010: Golden Girls actress Rue McClanahan died at age 76. She played roles in daytime soap operas Another World, Where the Heart Is and Love of Life, and in primetime comedic sudser Sordid Lives.
