NEWS: EASTENDERS Scene to Mention Nelson Mandela; Thorsten Kaye on Making B&B's Ridge Forrester His Own; Regina King; Sutton Foster Pilot; SCANDAL Season 3

EASTENDERS films tribute scene to Nelson Mandela
A special scene in Monday's episode will see two regular characters (Carol Jackson and Denise Fox) discuss their memories of Mandela's release from prison. It was one of the key moments of Mandela's life, remembered around the world as a long-coveted victory against his oppressors. Mandela later became president of South Africa, and oversaw the country's transition from apartheid. He died on Thursday, aged 95, after years of declining health.

Producers at the long-running soap said they chose to add the scene into the existing show, saying they aim "to reflect big news stories and events".

The show's spokesperson said: "Nelson Mandela had such a huge effect on so many people's lives that we felt it was important to reflect the impact his death has had."

Thorsten Kaye on playing THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL's new Ridge Forrester
"I have tried to make this role my own. I’m playing Ridge as a man making solid decisions based on a set of values that’s constant. Otherwise, I don’t know who this person is. The person can’t be fluid to the story, the story has to be fluid to the person. I couldn’t do what was done before, good or bad. If people don’t buy it, that’s okay. I tried. There are six flights from LAX every day."

BUNHEADS Sutton Foster to Star in TV Land's Darren Star Pilot

Armed with a makeover and new résumé, she wins a position at the city's hottest publishing company.

Shonda Rhimes Talks SCANDAL's Brutal Season 3 and the Issue of Likability
"To me it felt the natural progression of Huck’s character. If Quinn’s gonna do these things, then Huck is gonna do what Huck does. I try not to make the characters bend to our will. If I’ve set up a world in which this is what Huck does, and this is the way Huck treats people who are traitors, and this is how Huck protects Olivia, then that’s what he’d have to do to Quinn as well."

SCANDAL Season 3 Episode Order Trimmed in Wake of Kerry Washington's Pregnancy News
The network gave no official explanation for the cutback, but it’s safe to say the decision was made in response to the real-life pregnancy of leading lady Kerry Washington. The actress’ spring due date would’ve made shooting those final four episodes next to impossible.

An Encore for the ‘Smash’ That Wasn’t
With the TV series behind them (the last episode was shown in May), several of its principals are now set to reunite at the 54 Below club in Manhattan for three sold-out concerts on Sunday and Monday. The ostensible purpose is to perform “Hit List,” the never fully shown, vaguely “Rent”-like rock musical from SMASH.
