NEWS: R.J. Mitte joins SWITCHED AT BIRTH; Julianne Moore Receives Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

BREAKING BAD actor R.J. Mitte joins SWITCHED AT BIRTH
He will play Campbell, a pre-med college student paralyzed by a snowboarding accident who works at the free clinic alongside Daphne (Katie Leclerc).

Creator Lizzy Weiss also tweeted out the casting Thursday morning to her followers on Twitter, writing, "We are thrilled to have him."

THE WEST WING Government Shutdown Episode Is Frighteningly Familiar
In fifth season episode "Shutdown," the fiscal year is nearing its September 30 close. Democratic President Josiah Bartlet (Martin Sheen) and House Speaker Jeff Haffley (Steven Culp) have verbally agreed on budget cuts of 1 percent, mostly from social programs. However, at the last moment, the Republican speaker demands 3 percent in cuts that would slash funding on education programs, clean energy research, and other issues near and dear to the president’s heart.

After a march to the Capitol, the media joins Bartlet’s side, Haffley agrees to meet with the president for a private discussion. Again, he demands 3 percent in budget cuts.

“I’m not going to negotiate with anyone who holds a gun to my head!” screams the president. “We had a deal!”

After two hours, the two sides finally reach an agreement: 1 percent.

The pedigree of the creative talent recruited for the new round of original TV productions — and those still in discussions — sends a signal to the entertainment industry about Amazon's seriousness in creating shows. It needs to match the high bar set by rival Netflix Inc., which earned considerable prestige when David Fincher won the best director Emmy Award for the streaming service's drama HOUSE OF CARDS.

Oprah cleaning house before big birthday bash
Oprah Winfrey is already getting ready to celebrate her 60th birthday in January at her Montecito, Calif., estate. Us Weekly reports that Beyoncé and Tina Turner may perform, and the guest list could include Julia Roberts, John Travolta and Tom Cruise.

According to Montecito Journal columnist Richard Mineards, the talk show titan is staging the sale of the century to clear out her 23,000-square-foot mansion for a major makeover in preparation for her big birthday bash.

    Also, another onetime Hughes in the news today is Billy Magnussen (ex-Casey Hughes) photographed on location for his upcoming film role in "Into the Woods, shared by Lainey Gossip. .. Haveta say, Billy's rockin' those leather pants .. lol!
