Continuing to add more original programming to its primetime schedule, The CW Network has licensed the U.S. broadcast rights for the half-hour original comedy series SEED from leading independent studio Entertainment One (eOne). After premiering on the Canadian television network City in February and becoming the network's highest rated original comedy series to date, the critically acclaimed SEED will make its U.S. premiere on The CW later this season.
From the creative team of Joseph Raso ("Zombies & Cheerleaders") and award-winning writer/producer Mark Farrell ("This Hour Has 22 Minutes," "Made in Canada," "Corner Gas"), SEED tells the story of Harry (Adam Korson), a single, underachieving bachelor/bartender who is also a sperm donor. Harry reluctantly begins a relationship with three unique and separate recipient families - a laid-back lesbian couple with a 9-year-old son, a neurotically hopeful single mom-to-be, and an uptight, upper-class family with a rebellious teenage daughter - with whom he'll come to share more than just his DNA.
Produced byForce Four Entertainment, SEED is executive produced by Joseph Raso, Mark Farrell, John Ritchie, Rob Bromley and Gillian Lowrey. The Force Four production team includes Supervising Producer Paula J. Smith ("Less Than Kind") and Producer Karen Wentzell ("Trailer Park Boys"). eOne handles worldwide rights to the series in all media and has already successfully sold the series in a number of international territories.
eOne develops, produces, acquires, distributes programming across all genres including "Hell on Wheels" on AMC; "Rookie Blue" on ABC and Shaw Media; Discovery Channel's first-ever scripted mini-series "Klondike," co-produced by Discovery, eOne, and Nomadic Pictures in association with Scott Free Television; "Haven" on Syfy, Shaw Media and Universal Networks International; "Rogue," DIRECTV's first original scripted series starring Thandie Newton; "Saving Hope" on CTV; and "Bitten" on Space. The group also handles distribution of AMC's "The Walking Dead."
Through strong relationships with broadcasters and content providers, eOne Television International has successfully sold eOne's original and third-party productions to over 500 broadcasters in 150 countries, including key US networks and international pay TV channels.
