Soap opera star Joyce Jacobs dies
Jacobs, the character actor who played Esme Watson in the long-running Australian family drama A COUNTRY PRACTICE, has died at the age of 91.

Personal Manager Jon Mercedes Dies at 65
Mercedes, a personal manager, publicist, producer, writer and film executive, died Monday at his Hollywood home from colon cancer. He was 65.

In 1978, Mercedes founded Mercedes/Cohen Management and United Public Relations, and two years later launched The Mercedes Co. His clients included Charlene Tilton (DALLAS), Claudia Lonow (KNOTS LANDING), Susan Richardson, Tracey Bregman (DAYS OF OUR LIVES, THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS) and Jimmy Baio (SOAP).

Diedre Hall stresses the importance of vision care
DAYS OF OUR LIVES star Deidre Hall has a family history of age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and as a result takes her eyesight very seriously. To raise awareness around Healthy Aging Month and eye health, she together with a physician specializing in diseases and surgery related to the retina, relay important information about the disease.

Martha Byrne joins CRISIS
AS THE WORLD TURNS Emmy winner Martha Byrne (ex-Lily/Rose) has joined the cast of NBC's new primetime series CRISIS, a political thriller starring X FILES alum Gillian Anderson and Dermot Mulroney. "I will be joining CRISIS this season...Here is the trailer. :) Have to pack!" Byrne tweeted.

BIG BROTHER fan fave Howard Overby to guest star on THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL
Overby — a youth counselor from Hattiesburg, Miss. — will appear on B&B for two episodes, airing October 24-25.

THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS casting a prisoner
Y&R is seeking a big, burly man to play "Womack" for at least four episodes, possibly more. The character should be in his 30s and will play a prisoner.

Y&R's Melody Thomas Scott appearing at Women's Show in October and November
First, she'll be a celebrity guest at the Calgary Women's Show in Calgary on Saturday, October 26. Then, on Sunday, October 27, she'll be in Vancouver at the West Coast Women's Show at Tradex in Abbotsford. Finally, on Sunday, November 3, Scott will appear at The National Women's Show in Toronto.

A brand new mini soap opera for Kuppa Coffee
As THIS SPECIAL PLACE was filmed in the shop on 15th September, Kuppa Coffee in Newcastle became the first coffee shop in the UK to introduce its own soap opera.

General story: It's about a man - Joe - who is writing a book but can't find his inspiration... until he meets Sam. He creates a little scenario based around Sam leading a double life as a spy, this exciting story allows him to write his book in one day as he waits for her to come back.
