  1. I remember that day in 1975 like it was yesterday. The announcer said "The role of Alice Frame is now being played by Susan Harney." I almost fell off the sofa. She was a fine actress, but no one could ever replace Jacquie Courtney in that role. The beginning of the end of "Another World" started that day.

    1. I remember days like that. Probably the most famous one in my mind was when Hillary Bailey (Smith) replaced Margaret Colin on ATWT. I was at a friend's house and heard the dreaded announcer voice and my buddy totally didn't get why I was suddenly upset.

  2. My 'OMG moment' came on Jan. 13, 1978, when the announcer said 'The role of Nicole Drake is now being played by Jayne Bentzen.' As a dyed-in-the-wool Edge fan, maeve mcGuire will ALWAYS be Nicole to me. You know how I remember the date so vividly? Later that day, former US Vice-President Hubert H. Humphrey lost his valiant battle with prostate cancer at the age of 66.

  3. Both of those threw me, too. Especially Maeve McGuire. Jayne Bentzen was never Nicole to me.

  4. For me, that moment came in 1985 on "Capitol" when the announcer said "The role of Brenda Clegg is now being played by Karen Kelly." I was a huge Ashley Laurence fan, and for a child of 10 years old, I was devastated.
