Matthew Cowles, who was spotted last month at the ALL MY CHILDREN and ONE LIFE TO LIVE premiere event in New York, will be returning to AMC on May 16 as the infamous Billy Clyde Tuggle.

When the reviled character fell of a bridge over 20 years ago in 1991, residents of Pine Valley thought they had seen the last of Tuggle. But somehow the character managed to survive the plunge by landing on a mattress.

A former pimp turned born again Christian, Tuggle is back to cause trouble and now runs an escort service. He’s also trying to help Angie and Jesse Hubbard (played by Debbi Morgan and Darnell Williams) find their daughter who was kidnapped and is a victim of a sex trafficking ring.

Tuggle also comes face-‐to-‐face with Dixie Martin, played by Cady McClain, reigniting a dramatic storyline.

Cowles’ episodes begin streaming on Thursday, May 16. There's no formal word on how long he'll be sticking around.

Cowles is married to actress Christine Baranski.

  1. Just when the nightmares were getting far and few between, Billie Clyde is ALIVE!!!! He really scares me in real life! Back to therapy! lol

  2. Finally, some AMC 2.0 casting to be excited about! Maybe Billy Clyde has Tad?

  3. Every time I see his wife on The Good Wife I always think of Billy Clyde!
    Can't wait!!!

  4. As much of pond scum as he is, am so glad to see Billy Clyde back. And saved by landing on a appropriate! He was always on of my favorite characters.

I find it amusing that this actor I associate with such a trashy person, is married to lovely Christine Baranski!

Confused about the article, though. "A former pimp turned born again Christian, Tuggle is back to cause trouble and now runs an escort service." What is THAT all about?

  5. Wonderful Actor & Christine Baranski's Hubby To Boot--Yep!

    Brian :-)
