Broadway actress Krysta Rodriguez has joined the cast of SMASH, according to EW.com. Rodriguez will be playing Ana, Karen’s “fun and spunky new roommate” who’s also “an ensemble member in Broadway shows trying to make her mark.” Last season Karen lived with her boyfriend, Dev, one of several SMASH characters expected to exit the show next season.
Meanwhile, Leslie Odom Jr. has been promoted to series regular according to Deadline.com. Odom’s character, Sam, was introduced as one of Ivy’s dancer pals in the musical drama’s first season but soon became a romantic interest for Christian Borle’s Tom.
