NEWS ROUNDUP: Y&R's Maria Bell On Nielsens. Sean Young Sober. Kristina Wagner to GH? Blake Berris' Meth Head.

Y&R exec producer/head writer Maria Arena Bell: More people watching than Nielsen indicates
"There are more people watching than Nielsen would indicate," said Bell in an interview with performance artist and GENERAL HOSPITAL guest star, Kalup Linzy, "because THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS is one of the most popular shows on CBS.com so many are choosing to watch on line and we were the most popular show on SOAPnet. So yes, people are still watching but on many different platforms and of course DVR has a huge impact in this genre. All of the age groups are devised to see who the consumers are in an ad generated genre, but I agree that we don't value some viewers enough, especially older viewers. I think they should look at those age groups.

"I really believe this form will continue... and the success of primetime shows that are serialized certainly shows that it's a compelling form of entertainment. I have huge hopes for the future of soaps and for the future, in particular of Y&R. A very big audience, an important audience, is still watching... and as long as we can keep them watching, and keep them entertained we will have a place alongside all the other choices in entertainment. We are unique in what we do, which makes soaps special."

Sean Young blames security guard for arrest

Kassie DePaiva on the arrival of Todd at GENERAL HOSPITAL: Blair is not welcoming him with open arms
“Blair is not happy to see him and does not want him to come in and upset her daughter any more than he’d already done. Blair is there to protect Starr on all fronts,” says DePaiva. But as a parental unit, Blair and Todd are a force to be reckoned with and a certain hot-headed mob boss who may or may not be responsible for the accident should be concerned.

“We’re there to protect our daughter and get to the bottom of what really happened,” she says. “Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) name is mentioned as the cause and obviously Todd is not gonna take that laying down.”
