Monday Night Ratings; Record Debut For EL TALISMAN, CW Soaps Up, ALCATRAZ Down

The Monday night ratings are in and Univsion's newest telenovela, EL TALISMAN, is a huge smash. The show reached five million total viewers and generated more than 40 million Twitter impressions.

Over 5 million Viewers 2+ tuned in to all or part of the Univision Network’s one-hour premiere of EL TALISMAN on Monday, January 30 at 8 p.m. ET/PT (7 p.m. Central). Last night’s premiere delivered an average audience of 3.8 million Total Viewers 2+, 2.1 million Adults 18-49 and 1.2 million Adults 18-34. In addition, the premiere generated strong social media engagement with more than 40 million impressions on Twitter, according to Radian6.

In the time period, EL TALISMAN positioned Univision as the No. 2 broadcast network, beating ABC, CBS, NBC and the CW among Men 18-34. The novela also made Univision the No. 4 broadcast network, beating NBC and the CW among Adults 18-34 and Women 18-34; and additionally among Men 18-49 beating ABC and the CW. In fact, the novela premiere was watched by more Adult 18-34 viewers than the entire primetime line-up of NBC’s WHO'S STILL STANDING, FEAR FACTOR and ROCK CENTER WITH BRIAN WILLIAMS and the CW’s 100th episode of GOSSIP GIRL and HART OF DIXIE.

For the entire night, the novela premiere helped Univision rank as the No. 2 broadcast network, behind FOX among Adults 18-34 and Men 18-34. EL TALISMAN also positioned Univision as the No. 3 broadcast network, beating CBS, NBC and the CW among Women 18-34; and beating ABC, NBC and CW among Men 18-49. The novela helped Univision rank as the No. 4 broadcast network, beating NBC and the CW, among Adults 18-49 and Women 18-49.

From TNT:
TNT's acclaimed cop drama SOUTHLAND averaged a solid 3.1 million viewers in Live + 3 delivery last week (2.2 million Live + Same Day). That's a remarkable 29% jump over the show's Jan. 17 season premiere. In addition, last week's episode of SOUTHLAND averaged 1.3 million adults 18-49 in Live + 3 (758,000 L+SD), up 10% vs. the prior week, and 1.4 million adults 25-54 (895,000 L+SD), up 24%.

After only two episodes, SOUTHLAND is already showing growth in its fourth season. This year, the series has averaged more than 2.7 million viewers in Live + 3, up 5% compared to the first two episodes of season three. The drama has also averaged 1.2 million adults 18-49 (+4%) and 1.2 million adults 25-54 (+3%).

Other:
At the CW, the 100th episode of GOSSIP GIRL at 8 gave the series a boost, yielding the second-best numbers of the season. GOSSIP GIRL was up 17 percent in the demo with a 0.7/2 and grew 25 percent in total viewers, with 1.3 million. HART OF DIXIE the following hour also enjoyed a boost, climbing 20 percent in the demo for a 0.6/1 and rising 21 percent in total viewers, with 1.4 million.

FOX's ALCATRAZ was down 10 percent from last week for a 2.7/7 in the demo and 8.3 million total viewers.
