  1. It was just reported that The Chew is doing better in the Atlanta market than All My Children did. http://blogs.ajc.com/radio-tv-talk/2011/12/21/atlanta-tv-ratings-for-november-fox-5-up-year-over-year-wsb-adjusts-to-life-post-oprah/

  2. I tried to watch it but lost interest almost immediately. I think it's just another over rated cooking show that belongs on cable. I'll stick to General Hospital. And if GH is canceled, then I'm canceling permanently in my home.

  3. The ABC affiliate in Milwaukee (WISN-12) has also reported that The Chew has grown its noon to 1 p.m. time period audience by 24 percent over All My Children. ugh.

  4. With the amount of advertising ABC has done, it would be surprising if people weren't sampling the show. It would be interesting if we could know how many of the same people watch from week to week and feel loyal to the brand. I guess in this day and age, they don't really care about the long-term though.

  5. When OLTL goes off the air, The Chew ratings will TANK. If you DVR OLTL- notice how The Chew spills over in to OLTL time slot. THAT's where The Chew is getting it's "high ratings" - from people tuning in to watch OLTL.

They can keep spinning, but soap fans will not tune in to these cruddy new shows. ABC will regret canceling the shows that used to butter their bread.

  6. ITA Mary! If you turn on ABC for Life then you get last few seconds of Chew. I have to change the channel at least 30 sec after the switch over or the chew will get the Life ratings. Stupid move.

  7. How many people dvr that stupid show? Ummm none. How many people dvrd AMC? TONS! But we weren't counted. Duh!

  8. peggy: Nielsen Households (and Viewers) who DVR their television shows are counted if/when they watch the show within a specific timeframe (e.g. same day or 7-day). The same multiple is then applied and included in the total household and vewer counts. And unfortunately, if a larger percentage of viewers who are watching The Chew are watching that show "live," then advertisers could see this as a plus, since it's far more likely that live viewers are watching the advertising as opposed to fast-forwarding through it on a recording.
