DAYTIME RATINGS: CBS & ABC Sing The Praises Of Their Soap Replacements

CBS and ABC put out press releases on Thursday praising THE TALK and THE CHEW for continued ratings growth in the new Nielsens covering the week of November 7-11, 2011. THE CHEW is pretty much dead even with ALL MY CHILDREN's numbers for the same week last year. GENERAL HOSPITAL and DAYS OF OUR LIVES reached new all-time lows in Women 18-49 viewers.

But first, read the CBS press release which doesn't mention THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS or THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL.

THE TALK HITS A SEASON HIGH IN VIEWERS FOR THE SECOND CONSECUTIVE WEEK; POSTS BEST W25-54 AND W18-49 DEMOS SINCE JULY

THE TALK, CBS's daytime talk show, hit a season high in viewers for the second consecutive week while posting its best key women demographics since July, according to live plus same day ratings for the week ending Nov 11.

THE TALK delivered 2.10 million viewers, topping last week's previous season high of 2.08 million viewers. The series also averaged 1.1/06 in women 25-54, its highest since the week ending July 22, and 0.8/05 in women 18-49, its best since the week ending July 29.

Compared to the same week last year, THE TALK is up +1% in viewers (from 2.08m), +22% in women 25-54 (from 0.9/06) and +14% in women 18-49 (from 0.7/05).
Not to be outdone, ABC was happy to report THE CHEW grew its audience again this week.

THE CHEW is getting dangerously close to surpassing ALL MY CHILDREN's numbers.

ALL MY CHILDREN (ABC) – Week of 11/08/10
Viewers: 2.26 million, Women 25-54: 1.2/7, Women 18-49: 0.8/5, Women 18-34: 0.5/3

THE CHEW (ABC) – Week of 11/07/11
Viewers: 2.25 million, Women 25-54: 1.1/6, Women 18-49: 0.7/4, Women 18-34: 0.5/3

With the amount of promotion ABC has given THE CHEW it was bound to get new viewers to sample the show each week. But will they stay for the long haul? With a 30-40% smaller budget though, THE CHEW is already more profitable for the network than AMC (minus that huge advertising budget, of course).
