Kelly Monaco on Reality TV: "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em"

GENERAL HOSPITAL's Kelly Monaco isn't laughing when it comes to the future of daytime television.

"I can't be ignorant or naive and say that we're going to be on for the next 50 years," she said in a new E! interview which includes DIRTY SOAP co-stars Brandon Beemer and Galen Gering. "We might be gone in a year from now. I hope we're not."

"I think part of me doing DIRTY SOAP and doing this reality show is in part by salvaging some sort of audience that...we don't have right now," Monaco added. "Reality is such a big hit right now, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em."

Watch a DIRTY SOAP preview below.

  1. This strikes me as being abhorrent and offensive. Why not join the team that is aiding and abetting the decimation of a genre. I don't know; that's just how it struck me.
Incidentally, I'm really not a fan of so-called reality shows.

  2. I totally agree. It seems almost disloyal to the genre. But I guess they have to make a living and even "reality" shows are scripted,(not as soaps)and shouldn't be called "reality shows" but drama plot sitcoms. They have producers, writers, directors, and plotted points with story-lines. They have budgets, lighting, make-up, cameramen, and advertising budgets. It's disgusting!!! Give me drama and characters of true entertainment. I don't want to watch a bunch of non-actors or celebrities, rich debutantes parading around whining and complaining about their horrible love life(normally). If I want to watch that type of entertainment then I will take the "Naked Heiress" anytime for fun. Reality shows are not entertaining and sick of this cheap genre.
