POLL RESULTS: All-Time Favorite Primetime Soap Opera

WE LOVE SOAPS TV surveyed our readers and viewers this week to find out which primetime soap opera is their all-time favorite. KNOTS LANDING finished on top, edging out DALLAS. See the entire list below:

1. KNOTS LANDING (22%)
Conceived by David Jacobs before DALLAS, CBS wanted a flashier show in 1978, leading Jacobs to create DALLAS. He then launched KNOTS LANDING as a spinoff with the characters of Gary and Valene Ewing. The show premiered on December 27, 1979 and ran until May 13, 1993. Set in a fictitious coastal suburb of Los Angeles in California, the show originally centered on the lives of four married couples living in a cul-de-sac, Seaview Circle.



2. DALLAS (21%)
DALLAS debuted in April 1978 as a five-part miniseries on CBS, and then was subsequently broadcast for thirteen seasons from April 2, 1978 to May 3, 1991. The "Who Shot JR?" mystery is one of the most famous stories in television history. Nearly 360 million viewers worldwide tuned in to find out who did it.



3. DYNASTY (8%)
DYNASTY, produced by Aaron Spelling, ran on ABC from January 12, 1981 to May 11, 1989. Following the lives of the Carrington family in Denver, the show really took off when Joan Collins joined the cast as Alexis.



4. BEVERLY HILLS, 90210 (7%)
BEVERLY HILLS, 90210 ran from October 4, 1990 to May 17, 2000 on Fox and was produced by Spelling Television. The show's cast evolved over the years with only Jennie Garth, Tori Spelling, Ian Ziering and Brian Austin Green (plus Joe E. Tata) remaining throughout.



5. GREY'S ANATOMY (7%)
GREY'S ANATOMY debuted on March 27, 2005 on ABC and currently airs on Thursday nights. The series follows the lives of interns, residents and their mentors in the fictional Seattle Grace Mercy West Hospital in Seattle, Washington

  1. It's nice to see Pasadena get mentioned since FOX only aired 4 episodes. It was a great soap with a delicious performance by Dana Delany. However, Knots has always been my personal favorite.
