RESULTS: Indie Soap of the Week Poll

Here are the results from the WE LOVE SOAPS TV "Indie Soap of the Week" poll for the week of December 5-11, 2010. The latest episode of a new and improved THE BAY finished in the top spot. VENICE landed in second but still racked up the shows record 16th appearance in the Top 3. ANACOSTIA didn't have its highest ranking but one of its highest vote totals ever. In fact, the entire Top 9 was very well-represented this week.

If you're a fan of any of these shows, we encourage you to check out some of the other series you may not have watched yet. This past week was a particularly good week for indie soaps both drama and comedy (see the list below for links).

Indie soaps that aired one or more episodes last week were eligible. Check back on Saturday when this week's polling begins and keep supporting your favorite indie shows by voting. But more importantly watch them and spread the word.

  1. Roger/Damon,

Will you be interviewing the creators of "In Between Men"?

  2. Absolutely, both Quincy the creator and Nick the lead. Nick was on my radio soap for a few years, a show I did from 2003-2009. He played the best friend of Lucas, played by Derrell Whitt from THE BAY. :)

  3. Roger,

Thanks for the update. The show has TV level production values. The writing and acting are also very good.

My one question about the show: why are there no men of color in the cast?

  4. Why weren't we allowed to see the results as people were voting? Why the change? It's nice to know that certain soaps might have had a close race but why can't we see the numbers anymore?

  5. Only in recent months did we ever show the results. We changed programs and I actually wasn't sure how to NOT show them. In recent weeks there has been a lot of spamming (like a thousand votes for a show in five minutes) which totally violates what this poll is all about. There's no way to really stop that on the internet but I had a theory that by figuring out how to not display the totals again, as people voted, the spamming would stop. And that's exactly what happened. At least for this week. We'll always keep tweaking it as needed but always want to keep as much integrity as we can knowing it's an internet poll and there are ways around the rules.

  6. SoapFan, I will ask that question when I interview Quincy.
